Elijah Green, the club’s first-round pick last summer, has not played since June 28 because of a left wrist sprain that had him in a splint for close to a week. Green, 19, is rehabbing in West Palm Beach, Fla., though Rizzo thinks he will rejoin low Class A Fredericksburg soon.
Placed on the 7-day IL. Maybe to make room for the draftees?
Not gonna lie, I've pretty much completely written Green off at this point. Hopefully he proves me wrong but in my mind he's essentially a lottery ticket and should not factor into any future plans for team construction (I still see some people including him as a potential starting outfielder for the Nats by 2026).
He's 19 years old in low-A. Way too soon to write him off, or label him as a future major-league all-star. He's a high ceiling prospect, same as he was the day we drafted him last year.
The Green ascension take 2 lolhttps://twitter.com/ericgreen86/status/1689308495160520704?s=20
Green is one of those guys whose development is hurt by the compression if the low levels. I'd expect him to stay in Low A/High A for a while
If nothing else, I would enjoy watching a Fred-Nats game in which Green, Crews, and Pinckney were the OF.
I listened to the FredNats game last night instead of the mlb team. And will probably do the same today on my drive home.
