Honestly I'd take a .000 OBP if it meant he made contact each PA, at this level at least.

The average matters. If a player cannot hit the ball, then his power does not matter. When he can hit .260 with power then maybe he's ready for Wilmington.

I hope he figures it out and progresses. He’s so young and it’s still very early but it would be a shame for a #5 pick to have been wasted.

more to the point, the kid has great physical gifts that, if he can harness them, will lead to even more opportunities than athletic genes and just signing a contract has given him. Let's hope for him it happens.

Sure would be nice to someday see an OF of Crews, Wood, and Green.

The Green Wood Crews?

Not quite the catchiness of The Lumber Company, but I’ll take it.

finished the night 2-4, BB, RBI, 2B, 2 SBs. 28 SBs on the year even with missing time for injury and his low OBP.

It is WAY too early to write him off.

Nobody strikes out at his rate that low in the minors and finds any meaningful major league success.

Until he proves otherwise, he’s Justin maxwell at best

So is Wood...

To be fair, Wood is striking out significantly less than Green, which is saying something. He's also doing it at AA compared to low A. When Wood was at that level his K% was half of Green's.

Just bumping this because it makes me sad we drafted this kid like 8 months ago and we've already written him off.

20 months ago, right?  I hope he becomes the example of someone who strikes out at an insanely high rate in the low minors and then gets it together, but apparently, he’d be the first.

Eight was a bit of an exaggeration.  I don't think there is much of a chance of him getting it together. But he is only 20. Maybe it still happens.
