Saw him hit in the second inning. He looks like a modern super-star, at least in the making. Size of a horse, strong, and as fast as a race-horse. But he struck out swinging, missing badly on a pitch that started outside and fluttered so far that no one could have hit it.

Still only 20 years old. This is the time where he needs to show improvement so he at least gets himself to Wilmington.

hit his 4th on Sunday. Grant Paulson noted it was the 2nd hardest hit ball in all of the minors so far this season (116 MPH)

LF barely moved.

His OPS is now .664. Which is bad, but is above his terrible 2023 Fredericksburg line.

Any signs of progress for this kid should be applauded. The massive power is nice. The creeping upward OPS is appreciated.

As I was reading this I thought of another Elijah:

Elijah Dukes - 6-2 225

Elijah Green - 6-3 225

I assume Elijah Green doesn't like to duke it out like the previous Elijah.

His numbers are all worse this year than last. Most troublesome, his K rate is now 46% compared to 42% last year, but he's still only 20. Too soon to write him off:

Maybe he gets a bump up to A+?

Nationals Player Development

A three-hit night for Elijah Green, matching a career-high 👀

Our @MLBPipeline No. 7 prospect reached base four times on Saturday for @FXBGNats (3-for-4, 2B, RBI, BB) and has now reached base in four straight games.

nice night for Green last night: 2-5, R, HR(9), 2RBI, 2K, SB(25)

Average up to .189, OPS up to .601. If he ever starts making regular contact he's going to be a stud.

It’s been very rough, but he’s still extremely young and if he ever does figure it out in the coming years, that ceiling is still there.  Let’s hope some coach at some point can unlock it.

No need to be in a rush with him either.  Wood, crews, young, hassell, and easy to fill in FA corner of slots ahead of him in the system. Let him cook in the minors for the next 4 years and see if anything happens.  Hell, maybe all he needs is lasik or something

I say give him this hot streak and then bump him to A+. See what happens in a new place. No reason to have him scuffle more in Fredericksburg. He's done a lot of that already. Give him the bump and see if some confidence from a hot streak and a promotion can change something.

That's a heck of a month, tbh, but the Ks are still eye-popping.

He seems to have four of the five tools nailed down, just needs to get that fifth one.

Given his age, speed, power, and patience, still plenty of time.   I continue to wonder how this swing friendly org is coaching him.

The AVG is still too low, but his July and early August are catching my attention again. Barring him falling into another deep slump in the next couple weeks, I’m actually going to be excited to follow him next season. Going into the offseason with confidence would have to be huge for him.
