The AVG is still too low, but his July and early August are catching my attention again. Barring him falling into another deep slump in the next couple weeks, I’m actually going to be excited to follow him next season. Going into the offseason with confidence would have to be huge for him.

Completely agree.  He’s kind of forgotten now, so really it’s like a bonus now if he starts to scratch the surface on his original potential.  At least there are signs.

This is the great news. He's young enough to turn it around. Good to have reason for optimism.

Very encouraging.  Long way to go, but this is a big step forward.

I completely wrote Green off either earlier this year or even last season, can't remember for sure. I don't know what I'm talking about though so hopefully I'm proven wrong again. That said, even with this hot streak he has a 44.9% K rate in August, and 41.8% since July. That simply won't cut it at the higher levels.

Yea, it’s a Chris Davis at the end K rate.  The good news is he clearly does enough damage when he does hit the ball that down the line he could be a productive MLB hitter with a low 30s K rate.  Long way to go to get that mark.  He also is an amazing defensive CF, so maybe MAT with more pop is what he becomes.

My main concern is it's only going to get tougher to cut down on the strikeouts as he goes to higher minor league levels, not easier.

Oh, absolutely.  I’m just saying the benchmark can be amongst the highest 5% in K rate with how hard he hits the ball and his speed and CF defense.  Even that mark obviously will require a ton of progress, but I’d think good coaching and hard work can get that done.

he's only 20 and is making improvements. Time to see if he can adjust to the next level.

He's even taking some walks this month!

Fingers crossed he stays on the right side of the Mendoza line to close the season and he comes back ready to start at Wilmington next season. He won't be on the ideal schedule, but him resurrecting himself into a prospect to watch would be one of the best storyline for the Nationals minor league system this season.

Anybody else still intrigued by the potential of Elijah Green? He had a big homer tonight and notched steal #40. He’s only 20, so there’s still a lot of room for growth/improvement. Hopefully he can cut down on the k’s and move up the ranks next season.

let him cook in the minors for the next three years and we'll see.  If he can just cut the strikeouts to like 40% in the majors, he's an even more athletic joey gallo.  If he can cut it to even 35% he's a .240/.330/.500 guy with 30/30 seasons and good defense

Not really. He's looking at a part of a third season in low A, and he is still striking out at an absurd rate.  I'm not intrigued until he's in Double A.

He has been a lot better in the second half. Need to get him to A+ next year and see what happens.
