What if we just shoot at every pitcher who allows more than two base runners an inning?

I don't know how I feel about this. I mean, there's an issue with the hitters in that case.  You should not have 2 runners on. You should be either bunting or homering, depending on whether you are old school or new school.  I suppose if you are drawing a walk, then it is a TTO and ok to b e on base, but otherwise, i think base runners just clog the bases, as Dusty might say.

Acuna is injured. He had to be carted off the field today. Bad news for the Braves.

Pablo Lopez just set a major league record striking out his first 9 batters, pretty cool.

Joc Pederson to the Braves for 1B Bryce Ball.

Braves look like buyers.

Apparently the Mets are back on the Bryant trail too. Thought from a Metsblogger named Tom Hall:

"(The Mets) could potentially send a package that includes infielder Mark Vientos, pitcher Jose Butto along with a low-level pitcher. This way, Chicago still receives a potential future third baseman and a pair of arms, while New York lands another impact slugger and isn’t forced to surrender any of its top-six prospects."

Vientos is the #8 prospect in the Mets system and is at AA hitting .277 with 14 HRs. That would be a heck of a haul for a rental. We don't have a comparable (Garcia is probably closest, but far ahead of Vientos).

DeGrom has ceased his throwing program due to the dreaded "forearm tightness"

Mets take a 7-run lead into the 8th against the Pirates.  Teams with a 6 or greater run lead going into the 8th were 314-0 this year.  Now they're 314-1.

Mets gonna Mets.

The LOLMets are only 5 over .500 and less 3 ahead of the Barves and the Philthies.  Too bad we hit the wall hard once the calendar flipped to July.

losing 'schwarber' was the swan song...  when he was raking the way he was (and I never thought he would), I seriously thought the Nats, obviously, had a chance, and why not, then, go for it?  and now, as has been actively discussed throughout, even if we make a run of it, everything that has happened in the last little while needs to dictate that this organisation can't take the bait, and it's absolutely time to sell...

- the game last night...
- the 'castro' news beforehand...
- the 'strasburg' news, today (even though you couldn't count on him doing much, this year)
- the summaries of the Nats farm system, through various sources, after the draft...
- the continued performance of the pitcher they have that much invested in, and with the other woefully sad pitching performances, of late...

We don’t have the starting pitching to compete. We aren’t going to win with Scherzer alone.

Mets manager going ballistic.  Tajuan Walker flipped what he thought was a foul dribbler into the screen. Umpire said it was fair. Three runs scored as he argued with the ump. Pirates up 6-0.

The Mets showed me something after losing the way they did last night and then getting down 6-0 in the first today.  They fought back.

It's a long season  Crazy things happen.  If deGrom is on the injured list for a while they are in some trouble.

Nats wiped out the entire positive run differential or the Marlins in one game.
