The Nats better not let this get to next week. I've been getting like zero sleep this past month and resorting to taking naps for lunch in the car at work.

Well the good news I suppose is that Houston is still a -125 favorite in Vegas to win Game 3. A far cry from the -185 kind favorites the Astros were for Games 1 and 2, but the underdog has won every game of this World Series so far.

Obviously I hope Greinke craps himself under the attention and pressure of a World Series, and the Astros not only lose but have to bring in their bullpen early on the day before a bullpen start. But he didn't crap himself at Yankee Stadium in the ALCS and you could easily see the Astros take a ton of walks off Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez is also not going to last more than 5 innings so the Nationals bullpen will throw plenty of pitches to the Astros on Friday night. Frankly, you could see the Astros take a lot of walks off Corbin too. And at that point you are faced with the grim prospect of once again having to face Cole and Verlander and it seems unlikely that the Nationals would once again get a 99th percentile outcome.

Just saw that ALL the World Series games are 8:07/8:08 start times.  Even the games in D.C.  Wtf?!?

This.
I’m currently remodeling my basement man cave thinking, “do I spend $3,000 on World Series tickets (and have a lifetime memory with my brother) or do I spend $3,000 on a 75”-82” QLED smart TV that would look awesome on the wall adjacent to the fireplace of the man cave???????
I really love my brother however ...........?.........?........?      :asplode:

Either way  :money: :money: :money:
Get the TV (or a cheaper one, jeepers) and watch the World Series on that TV. You can watch future Nationals games (and cartoons) on the TV.

three of the last four teams to win the first two games on the road ended up losing the WS.  I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic until we win game 3.

Game 3 is must win for me. You can't give them hope. This is why I think Max should be available, just like Corbin was for Game 1. Grienke has an ERA over 4 in the postseason, and hasn't made it out of the 6th since 2015. Go all in and force them to beat you. Make them throw Cole on short rest. And it's even more of an imperative if Game 4 is rained out.

All these people and media pundits and especially Houston shocked at the Nationals offense.

Didn't they know that since that now infamous May 24th date, the Nationals had the MOST Runs scored, and BEST Run Differential. In the whole league.

Everyone thought the comeback from 19-31 was only about the starting pitching. Which also helped tremendously. But this offense is no joke.

I'm sure a lot of people chalked it up to playing a lot of bad teams (which has some validity). And, well, the pitching kind of takes center stage. And it should. Currently has 525 million locked up in three guys. And Harper left, so there wasn't a big name to follow.

How many people research anything these days sufficiently, including journalists? How many times do we see talking heads spout about something as fact they saw in a text, only to have a bit of fact-checking change the story?

Reading on the Astros board is entertaining.

Some of their fans still refuse to give the Nats credit where due.
One poster said "Dont give up. There is no way we are going to lose to the Nationals. They only won 93 games. A team that won 93 games can not beat a team that won 107 games"

Another poster with a slightly firmer grip on reality "they beat the Dodgers"

Original poster "The dodgers only won 106 games"

Gotta say, if the Astros lose this series, there will be a significant portion that will say they choked. I'm not sure they're wrong. The Astros as struggling with RISP this postseason.

"only" 106 games though

Yes but its exasperating to deal with them here. Its hilarious when they are another teams fanbase.

Cole and Verlander seemed to pitched well. Pitching on both sides by the starters have been good. Nats have been making contact and making plays happen where the Astros haven't.  If the Nats continue what they did in Game 1 and 2, I think we see them win it in 4, but who knows. The weather, will be colder, the ball may not travel as far, etc....

I think the unjuiced ball has been an advantage to the Nats, who have pitchers with a tendency to give up dingers and a lineup that doesn't hit them at a rate you would expect given their run production.

That being said in this series, we have had mammoth shots by Eaton and Suzuki and Taylor, so maybe the old ball is back"?

It took 544 days for Darvish to get even with Verlander:

https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/world-series-yu-darvish-hands-justin-verlander-another-fall-classic-loss-with-long-awaited-twitter-burn/

That was great.  Poor Justin...spent the night crying on Kate Upton's rack.
