Here's how @Nationals have lost 15 of 20...
Offense: 3.6 runs per game (26th)
Rotation: 1-13, 5.78 ERA (30th)
Bullpen: 4-2, 3.80 ERA (12th)
Standings: From up by .5 games to down 7

Beginning April 3 (after winning the first four) we went 7-16, followed by 22-7, followed by 10-18.  A  season is nearly always a series of streaks and slumps.  There is no reason we cannot go on another 22-7 run and assume a commanding lead.

If we did that and the Braves continue to play at their .590 pace, the Nats would still be two games back. Certainly manageable and 29 games from now, we'll be headed into a series with the Braves in Nats Park. Nats need that series to be a big deal when it comes.

Nats also have a schedule to absolutely go on a run like this. They play 21 of their next 29 vs. the Marlins, Pirates, Mets and Reds. They get 2 more vs. the Red Sox and then open after the break with 3 vs. ATL and 3 at MIL. Now's the time to get it going.

Hit the ball like a team.
There is no situational hitting....other than from Eaton.........everyone else is trying to just hit homers........no moving the runners around the base paths....no team play.....what does the get you? Baltimore South....lots of 1 run homers.....lots of loses
The only one who choked up with two strikes and goes the other way is the 19 year old.

I'll count whatever chickens I end up with after they've hatched....  and then likely be very upset at the lack of chickens I have.   :|

What would the season look like if instead of being 8-16 in 1 run games we were 16-8?

When we score more runs a game, we will be right there.

That is an excellent point, I would be a lot more optimistic about the season if we had won a bunch more games at this point.

Well... yeah but since the guys who were supposed to be the power bats, the RBI guys haven’t been there isn’t much reason to think they suddenly will. Other than history saying they will.

Left Roark in to save the pen. Sent a message to his offense, they aren't expected to be able to score seven runs in five innings. Probably true, our bats stink, but a harsh assessment from their leader.

Dave playing the long game knowing this team is trash. We collapse before the deadline so we can trade assets. :stir:

Four runs. I feel like you should win a game when you score four. At least be competitive

Getting rid of Dusty was a dumb move.

Look at this mentally weak squad backed by a guy who doesnt know what hes doing.

Trade Max please so he will not go his entire career without winning a WS please. I hate to see all time greats never win because the team around them is trash.

tbf last year max came into a game 5 at home with a multi-run lead and blew it just about single-handedly. max is far from blameless when it comes to this team choking

Cab we get this guy out of the dugout please?  If he wants to stay, give him a set of pom pons and let him cheer, but please have somebody else steer this ship.  Boz is trying so hard not to kill him in every column/tweet, but I think he is about to break.

And yet no one can point to anything Martinez has done that warrants firing.

This happened in 2013. And 2015. Now in 2018. Three separate managers are having the same issues. Hmmmm

This is kinda my thing. People online love to act like they know what it's like the clubhouse ("no one respects him because of camels!"), but we really don't. So I'll ignore that unless stuff happens in public view.

The reason for this year's sucking is, as usual, the players we count on playing like turds. Bryce sucks this year. Rendon is above average, but not great. Turner is solid, but not a gamebreaker. Soto has bailed us out because Murphy is a total zero and Zimmerman might as well be off the roster. Roark stinks. Gio is up and down. Stras is hurt. Where is all that the fault of Martinez?

I don't really know the solution besides, "magically make the players we're paying play up their abilities."

And to be fair, EVERY single bad thing that could have happened this year has happened pretty much, and they were all things that we all just hoped would never happen (i.e., Murphy will be fine!).

Fire Rizzo too, it's about time. He's been given a top of the league budget and not produced.

Here’s a thought: stick with the guy that got you there with a putrid bullpen last year. Dusty deserved to be renewed. It’s disgusting.
