Wasn't Alex Cora one of our top choices? Man he's killing it in Boston. But its early yet. Its hard to blame Davey when Rendon, Eaton, and Murphy are hurt and guys who are healthy(Harper, Zimm)simply aren't hitting.
I don't even think he was contacted by us as he was rumored to be in the Sox camp .

Lind is back in the Yankees farm but I still don't understand why we didn't keep him (and I'm about 80% sure we didn't keep him, although some of the reports I read were that he'd been the one to decline the option).

I believe Lind was holding out for a two year deal and declined the 5 mil option from the Nats.

True, but they'll blame the lost season on injuries, bringing back Baker would mean admitting they made a mistake.
A few years ago I was made unwelcome at X and left. Result was a dog's breakfast there but wouldn't go back however much they paid me. Hard to think this wouldn't apply to Dusty. Too much bad blood now, even if Rizzo made a profound Mea Culpa.

Your stats which show us better at sucking than Cincinnati are convincing, but I forget: Did Dusty have four keys comparable to Rendon-Murph-Eaton-Goodwin out simultaneously, and for how long? (Not counting Werth as a key.) Dusty sure made do with an inferior bullpen. His SR was about the same. Not sure we can blame this sorry start entirely on the mangler. The coaches may come in for some. Did Martinez specify them?

I thought Dusty screwed up on the playoffs but it was also on the players. Probably 60-40 blamed wise with the players having the greater share.

So in curious here on how some of our anti Martinez friends here rate his part in the bad start. From what I read here it seems 100 percent.

It was one of those bad moves by the team and also by Lind. He seems a better hitter than Adams.

Serious Question:

Can they rehire Dusty after they can this guy?

Surely a manager as great as Dusty will have another job by then

Too old to get hired anywhere else. Makes sense here for one last year because he knows the team.

Nothing like the kind of accountability under Dusty, I bet a lesser manager would have played a veteran who couldn’t hit or run in the playoffs just based on his stature

I wonder how much control Dusty had over that decision.

Once all the offense from this afternoon is factored into the season average the expected Pythagorean win total is going to increase by two games, putting Martinez another game in the hole, from three to four.

Rizzo wasn't sitting on the bench. Werth didn't have a contract in 2018. I can't see Rizzo interfering. It's reported that the Lerners were pissed about it.

The reason I suspected that Rizzo mandated the lineups was based on comments he made when interviewed on the Junkies, he was extremely supportive of Werth in the face of the fan base having moved on.

Dyu think he made the one last night? The usual toothless junior lineup less Zim and Howie (Howie duly got his knock when he pinch hit). Yet they score 15, against 8 in the previous four non-Max starts. (Our other starters could use such help.) So how do we explain this phenomenon? Does DM really have much to do with what happens? Maybe that's the real situation.
