I’m not. I’m saying that sequence probably ended in a wash in the end. It was dumb to send him. But I don’t think it affected the outcome.

Probably ends up a wash. But in the post game presser it appears that Weiters went on his own. He saw that the pitcher was slow to the plate and tried to take him by surprise. Taking chances is what happens when the team can't hit.

Does Martinez understand that the Lerners are not his friends, they are his employers who will dump him for certain when the Nats don't make the playoffs? Martinez is treating the team like he wants to be a good guy, a "player's manager", he had better figure out soon that these guys who are under-performing aren't going to give up their contracts in solidarity when he gets canned. Time to drop the cliches and find the right guy to scapegoat with a benching.

I mean, arguably the three best pure hitters on the team are on the mend. All things considered, he doesn't have a ton of options at the moment.
