He was up there. I think he thought he had more in the tank. I also think he was better last year because Davey and Mike Maddux "believed in" him. You also have to wonder if the pitchers know when relievers don't look right.
What did they say?
I can't believe no other player has yelled at a manager in the heat of a game before. Martinez breaking all the barriers!I also can't find video of it anywhere. It's such a big deal that people are scared to post videos. Sad!
Gio always seems to be whining though tbh.
Google Reggie Jackson/Billy Martin
weird - those yankees teams didn't win anything. should have fired billy on the spot.
The examples of Stras and head-case Gio being upset is likely just the tip of the iceberg...The only thing that will fix the clubhouse is winning...and that's gonna take more than what they have all been doing to this point...'lil d needs to stop channeling Maddon and be himself...if he can...
Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeriste I can read it. Reminds me of old Nospinzone.
Needed emphasis on the d in 'lil d...
Strasburg popping off mid-game is to be expected from a competitor in the moment. Gio should have saved his words for a one-on-one with the skipper. But I understand his complaint.
Is this tongue in cheek?
Oh come on man, not you.
I genuinely want to know if the post was sarcasm because those teams won two titles. Maybe I missed something between the lines.
I thought he did a masterful job of utilizing the entire roster and keeping players motivated throughout the long season. I was disappointed in some of his decisions in the playoffs, in particular excessive trust in Werth, but I can't ever remember a moment when I considered him an "idiot", much less called him such. So I resent being tarred by the same brush.
I don't believe I am in either camp of keeping or firing Dusty. But , I have posted this somewhere previously. He was great for MAT and Difo and I attribute their success last year to Dustys' mentoring. Their regression this year could also be attributed to his absence.
Not sure what those stats mean but apparently we're underperforming better than Cincinnati. Only Stengel's Yankees could win with four top guys out. We can meanwhile go back to 2005 and live for the moments. Max and Harp and...and...
I agree, I also think that switching out the rest of the coaching staff had an equally negative impact.
