He was up there. I think he thought he had more in the tank. I also think he was better last year because Davey and Mike Maddux "believed in" him. You also have to wonder if the pitchers know when relievers don't look right.

Dusty but really, if you need pats on the back to make yourself better that's pretty lame.

What did they say?

Strasburg complained in public might be more accurate than publicly, shouted at Martinez from the dugout steps, the assumption is that was about defensive shifts.

I can't believe no other player has yelled at a manager in the heat of a game before. Martinez breaking all the barriers!

I also can't find video of it anywhere. It's such a big deal that people are scared to post videos. Sad!

Gio always seems to be whining though tbh.

He's a freaking nag. He's whined in the past to shift blame to the manager for his sucking on the mound. And let's not forget what a failure he has been in the postseason.

Strasburg popping off mid-game is to be expected from a competitor in the moment.  Gio should have saved his words for a one-on-one with the skipper.  But I understand his complaint.

The examples of Stras and head-case Gio being upset is likely just the tip of the iceberg...

The only thing that will fix the clubhouse is winning...and that's gonna take more than what they have all been doing to this point...

'lil d needs to stop channeling Maddon and be himself...if he can...

Neither incident is a big deal on its own, but half of the starting rotation complaining during Martinez's third week on the job isn't a sign that the new skipper has things under control.

I genuinely want to know if the post was sarcasm because those teams won two titles. Maybe I missed something between the lines.

I bailed for the same reason.    I was glad you asked the question.    :)

I'll concede that it's early, but worst in the league in actual wins vs expected wins is not a good place for Martinez.

I thought he did a masterful job of utilizing the entire roster and keeping players motivated throughout the long season.  I was disappointed in some of his decisions in the playoffs, in particular excessive trust in Werth, but I can't ever remember a moment when I considered him an "idiot", much less called him such.  So I resent being tarred by the same brush.
I don't believe I am in either camp of keeping or firing Dusty. But , I have posted this somewhere previously. He was great for MAT and Difo and I attribute their success last year to Dustys' mentoring. Their regression this year could also be attributed to his absence.

I agree, I also think that switching out the rest of the coaching staff had an equally negative impact.

Not sure what those stats mean but apparently we're underperforming better than Cincinnati. Only Stengel's Yankees could win with four top guys out. We can meanwhile go back to 2005 and live for the moments. Max and Harp and...and...

Look at the total ABs from last year, Baker had three position guys healthy for the full season and a pen that was much worse, somehow he got the best out of the guys he had. Circle of Trust guy is allowing a loser mentality, blame the umps, blame the injuries,  it's still early blame bad luck.

Especially Maddox and retaining Hendley. I liked the Kevin Long hire but we haven't seen anything positive come of it.

Hopefully he realizes it's NOT still early, that April is about done, and that you need to turn the ship around before it gets completely out of hand.
