So which veteran manager will replace Dave (assuming we continue the pattern)?  LaRusa?
Manny Acta. Just remember it's the Lerners so has to be someone who will do on the cheap.

Chip Hale would be a lateral move, but might shake up the clubhouse. Baker would be the best choice but I don't see the Lerners publicly admitting that they screwed up. Girardi would be nice, getting this team into the playoffs would pay for his salary. Werth would be a terrible manager but highly entertaining.

At least he wouldn't have his primary goal to be friends with the players.

FP likes him because 'lil d gives "knucks" to the press when the board they team plane.

I generally like FP but he's going a little far with the all Pollyanna all the time routine this year.

I like Dave. I liked Dusty. I didn't like Matt, not even mid 2014 season.

They've scored 5 runs in the last 3 games. Not gonna win many games like that. I understand we have a good portion of the lineup on the DL.

I don't put the offense issues on Dave. Guys who should of been hitting weren't, and guys aren't available to play. Not much Dave can do.

Jim Riggelman has been batting Billy Hamilton ninth the past few days. I believe this disqualifies him from ever returning to the Nats in the minds of some posters here.

I like when the Nats win. The offensive problems and lack of bench are hard to blame on the new guy. He really does need to flip over some post game buffet tables. Also should have benched Bryce after his lollygagging the other night.

I was just about to make a post about flipping tables, I'm pleased that you agree.

Davey left Rizzo a voice mail asking if we can fill out the pen with a dozen guys from Japan who can also pinch hit.

It's interesting, bc he's actually much more candid off camera, even with fans he doesn't know at all.  I ran into him in SF in summer of '15 (probably August), when things weren't going well, and he didn't sugar coat at all.  Said things were a mess, had criticism for players and Matt Williams, etc.  I guess he views it as part of the job on TV to be positive.  To be honest, it doesn't bother me too much, and I think I prefer to the alternative.  I can be negative enough myself, so hearing soothing things is moderating.

If he'd simply make his pitch and move on...but, no...he has to...

He's a team employee so I'd expect a positive spin, this year he seems to be going overboard to make a point.

Might help Zim, but would probably hurt Tanner.

Strasburg and now Gonzo have publicly complained about Martinez's decisions.
What did they say?

Dibble was fired for being a bit too direct in his criticism of the team, specifically, of the injury that led to Stephen Strasburg getting TJ surgery. My guess is that FP was told in no uncertain terms that he must limit his on air critique of the product on the field to broad generalizations.

Gio thought it was odd to be replaced when he only let one baserunner on, and thought he was ready for more innings, thought that he could give the pen a rest.

I forget, how many pitches was he at when he was taken out?  Gio always seems to be whining though tbh.

He was up there. I think he thought he had more in the tank. I also think he was better last year because Davey and Mike Maddux "believed in" him. You also have to wonder if the pitchers know when relievers don't look right.
