With Eaton and Murphy out, it's reasonable to expect the offense to be closer to average. When Moises Sierra is getting playing time, it only drops further. They could be kept afloat with pleasant surprises like they had last year, but it's been pretty much opposite. Taylor's OPS+ is 3. 3!!! That's not even pitcher quality.
But who can you put in CF? Robles is hurt and Goodwin is banged up. Difo? He's hitting okay, but in CF, that "D" doesn't stand for defense. Who can you bat 4th? Murphy is out, Rendon is banged up, but still anyone but Zim. Kendrick, probably. Adams has a good OPS, but he essentially isn't even available against lefties. Mark Reynolds? I'm not sure another high strikeout guy is the answer. I'd bat Harper lead off until Eaton comes back.
Get Murphy, Eaton and Rendon back. Make to tough decision to cut the dead weight and hope it's not too late by then. If it is too late, I look at Zim and Taylor. The team needed a hero (or a gyro) and they disintegrated. The part of this that is on management is if they remain bullheaded until it's too late. They envisioned Zim and Taylor as valuable starters. Kendrick and Goodwin were to be bench pieces and spot starters. If they don't get quicker on the trigger then they're putting their pride above the team.
