No he’s not going to get at bats once Crews ciomes and then Wood hopefully.  The numbers say Young was better last year.  Robles needs a new manager to piss off.

Young was an 82 wRC+ and the advanced stats say he got really lucky. The only way he is better than Robles is if last year's defense is the new norm for Robles. And at age 27, I kind of doubt that

We dont know that Crews is going to be ready, and even if he is, LF is available.

I looked back at Victor's defense in terms of Outs Above Average (OAA).  He really has not been that great defensively since 2019.

Edit:  Let me expand on this.  He had 23 OAA in 2019 which is the highest single season I could find since 2018 when I searched.  His next highest year is 5.  In comparison Aex Call had 7 OAA in 2023.  MAT has had season of 18, 9 and 9 from 2018-23.  Johan Rojas of the Phillies had an OAA of 9 this season in just 59 games.  Now that is elite defense.  And yet their GM says he has to earn the job next year in spring training because of weak hitting.  Victor is not an elite defensive CF on a consistent basis.  He probably could be had he worked harder at his craft.  Just as he could be a better hitter. He might find a niche as an extra OF on a good team if he can stay healthy.

Sure, if you ignore 2022. When he was nominated for a gold glove. Again.

Still not sure why there's so much discussion on Young or Robles. There's no reason not to start the season with both to start the season. It's not like they'd be pushing another deserving player aside.

So was Juan Soto.  Stick with the actual numbers and not the subjective gold glove stuff.

I'm just tired of Victor and his bonehead plays.  I really think he would do better in another city.  I would rather see someone who gives consistent effort.

Soto was a legit superstar. Robles was a nobody. He played good enough defense that people noticed and put his name down. But hey, Alek Thomas and Trent Grisham were just "subjective"

Robles had a higher OAA than Michael A Taylor last year. He also had 12 DRS. He is significantly better than any outfielder we have on the team

Robles has proven to be an idiot. Yes, he can catch a ball. So can Young, who knows where to throw after he catches it. Robles has had coaching for years, but never responds. Seems un-coachable. Still a dumb base-runner. He hit respectably for maybe six weeks at the start of 2023, the first time in the majors since early in 2019.

Still, no reason to dump him before spring. Let him compete.

Maybe Young wins the job in Spring Training.

Wonder where he might play in the Dominican League. The games are generally on MLB TV.

It’s actually kind of funny to read some of the articles.  Was close to resuming baseball activities at the end of the season. Then two days ago he was still not cleared to play.  Then all of a sudden yesterday he was cleared. Sounds like he must still have some issues with the back.  Maybe loan him to the Mexican League until it warms up.

Victor is playing for the Toros.  3 games.  2 for 8. One K.  Games are on MLB TV with a subscription.

I tuned in at 6:30 but was a rain delay.  No sight if Victor yet but YadiStar is playing for their opponents.  Just grounded out.

Victor smacks a double to right center.  2 for 2 so far.  He truly is the Overlord.

Didn’t see much.  Looked like he was holding the bat a little different.

I look forward to discussing Victor Roble's Dominican league OBP in the winter of 2028 as we all discuss the need to sign Robles for just one more season in CF as he settles in for his decade plus stretch as the CF for lack of better options. Someone will then mention the ability to trade him at the deadline.

It will look a lot like this offseason and the past couple ones.

Paraphrasing Shirley Povich, as of Next May: "Victor Robles, who had a fiver year tryout with the Washington Nationals, was release today."
