Harvey’s actually been pretty decent since he got to the Reds. Not my first choice for trade target but he’s probably one of the cheapest SP that’s going to be on the market.

I'd love to have Rasiel as well but that'll just make the price tag more expensive. I really don't know what pieces we have to be able to get this done.

And this team has done nothing to make me think that we are one piece away from a WS and we should dump a prime asset for this run.

Article today speculating we might be sellers...thanks to not bringing back Dusty/cheap owner: we could probably get a nice haul for Harper and prob not miss him.

As for Raisel Iglesias, the Nationals like him and reached out to the Reds earlier this season when they were gauging the reliever market before acquiring Kelvin Herrera, per person familiar. They see him as a reliever. Seems unlikely that they'll pursue him before the deadline.

Hey guys Reds fan
as far as Harvey goes I expect him to be pitching in Yankee Stadium in the near future
Iglesias I expect to be a Red as he still has a couple years left on his reasonable contract unless someone completely overwhelms them with an offer
Gennett is a tough one to call.Reds fans really like Votto,Scooter then Suarez as the 3,4,5 hitters unfortunately in a couple years Scooter will be due a huge raise,I wouldn't be surprised with an off season trade involving him

Dave Martinez is not a great manager. He might be better than Matt Williams, but not saying much. I wouldn’t blow it up, but I’d listen to offers. You can live in denial, but big mistakes were made. Dusty would have this team in first. An Arietta signing would too. Could a trade of Harper yield anything substantial? Who knows, but this isn’t an elite team. It’s worthwhile debating these things for the long term interests of the club.

So at this point: Who to trade for? Absolutely nobody. Not worth giving up a single prospect at this point. Now...if we magically go on a run and have turned things around by the end of July, then maybe make a move before the deadline if needed, but yeah, forget trading for Ramos or anyone else right now.

If you can trade for someone who will be here next season, it's worth considering.

I think this team needs another starting pitcher. Even with Strasburg back, its obvious Gio and Tanner are in a funk. And Tanner hasn't been an effective starter since 2016.

I wonder if Hellickson could be moved to the pen at this point. He struggles to get through the order a third time. I wouldn't use him like a normal reliever, but if you give him time to warm up and enter an inning clean, he could be really effective.

Michael Fulmer, Chris Archer, Jon Gray .... these are the guys I'd want to target.

Today I was impressed with Grace. We really need a lefty or two going forward. He's almost exclusively a sinkerl / slider guy now, so maybe he needs a better change to start, but I would not mind seeing if he can be stretched out even more and maybe take some rotation turns. I would not mind seeing the occasional bullpen day, perhaps with Miller as the opener, or maybe Grace going early and Hellickson or Roark coming in after him like TB uses Andriese and Yarbrough. If there's anything to Fedde's injury, I would not mind seeing Solis back up as the 2d lefty in the pen and Grace given this sort of a shot.

In terms of trade, I think you need to do the groundwork to move just about anyone with an expiring contract at the deadline. That really does mean not just Madson but also Harper and Murphy. I am inclined to keep Gio at this point and offer him a QO, but if the offer is good enough, then the Grace thing I mentioned becomes something we'd have to do.

Frankly, if Robles is healthy and performing, then I would not hesitate to move Harper at the deadline if we are 8 out of the division. I don't even care if we are close to the second wild card because the play in is a craps shoot. We could win it with Scherzer or Strasburg, but it is still a tough road to make it out the divisional round. If Carter Kieboom tears up the Eastern League, then I'd look to cash out on Murphy, too. This reminds me of the NYY in 2016, when they moved McCann to make room for Sanchez, moved Chapman and Miller, brought in Clippard and some other pieces, and made a nice run to the wild card after that.

You're just scared we will beat your Sawx in the Series.

They have a couple more weeks to turn it around. But I think the Lerners will be stubborn and want to compete even if it's just for the wild card. Would be nice if Murphy and Harper could pick up the hitting. That's a win whether you want to trade or keep them.
