If the Ms or Tigers get bounced early we should target them on wood, Abrams, and/or gore trades. Lots of high end prospects there

What are they giving up? Youre selling all those guys at their lowest, particularly with a shortened season.

Wood - Cool, Riley Greene.
Abrams - Sub .800 OPS that plays the infield like a DH
Gore - 4+ ERA

Youre not getting quite the haul you think you are. The Tigers aren't giving up Kevin McGonigle. Emerson is a severe underpay, except for Abrams.

More valuable to keep

But since its ZDK, what about trading Abrams to the Reds for Mclain, Lowder, and another prospect.

McLain moves to SS and we hope his bat comes back. If not, he is a plus defender at short. Lowder immediately slots in to the rotation and is an improvement from Irvin or Parker

Seems like a lot for Abrams but I haven't been following the Reds guys that much. My initial reaction is to take that deal and run.

Mclain had shoulder surgery last season and posted a mid .600s OPS this year. He may or may not recover. The Reds taking Hayes makes me wonder if they need to prioritize offense at the other positions.

Hit me with a lil

Abrams to the Ms for Ford, Sloan, Yorger Bautista or Nick Becker as a raw upside play, and one of Mcgraw/Beilenson/Cleveland as someone that can hopefully be AT LEAST a major league middle reliever.

For the Ms:
Abrams could slot in at 2B with Crawford at Short and Emerson taking over third. This would really solidify their infield and lineup. Polanco is a free agent and has been up and down. His peaks are better than Abrams, but Abrams is cheaper for the next three years and allows them to spend elsewhere. Their lineup would be lefty heavy, but their two best hitters (cal and julio) are switch and righty at least. It would also still leave them with their top 3 prospects in what would remain a deep system of both pitchers and hitters, close to the majors and far away. They would retain their top 2 hitting prospects and their top pitching prospect.

For the Nats:

Provides a major league ready catcher, a promising arm with upside of a 2 starter as well as an upside hitter play and a likely reliever.

Ryan Sloan is under 20, a 2024 2d round RHP who finished the year in A+. FG has him as their #9 prospect, 45+ FV. Power pitcher with a good splitter.
Yorger Bautista is an outfielder, an 18 year old Venezuelan signee in Rookie ball. #11 in their system according to FG. 45 FV. Speed is his best tool but, per FG, can do a bit of everything.  Raw.
Nick Becker is a 19 year old SS who played in Low A.

The Ford / Sloan combo is interesting. Sloan is far enough away that you are justified in asking for something more.

What would be your ask from the Red Sox for both Gore and Abrams? They can take on about $39 million and stay below the 2d lux tax threshold. If you figure a chunk goes to a hitter (Bregman / Alonso / Schwarber), that means trading for an arb-eligible #2/#3 and another low cost hitting upgrade might be in the cards.

Id be surprised if the Mariners were willing to give up Henry and Sloan. Also, are they sticking with Crawford at short? He didnt look great there and it might be time to slide him over to 2B

Crawford's defense I think would make Abrams less attractive to the Mariners. Can't afford to play both of them up the middle.

Arias, Witherspoon, 1 of early/tolle, Dorian Soto, plus 2 low level slightly better than pure lotto tickets

Abrams
—>
Quintero/Sirota, Freeland, Zazueta, Copen

Gore, Henry, Young
—>
Eldridge, Leval, Martinez, Harris, Marte

Freeland takes over at SS, Eldridge at 1B. Bring back bell for DH Quintero/Sirota take over in a few years when wood is moved to 1B/DH or crews is a bust. Leval, Willits, German are top infield options in 2-3 years. Them plus Freeland + house + wood/eldridge + the triple a glass man make for an encouraging infield mix.

Pitching wise between Cavalli, Herz, Sykora, Susana, Clemmey, Bennett, Martinez, Zazueta, Kent we got a decent up and coming pitching pic the next few years.

ok, ZDK. There's a lot of talk about Ketel Marte to the Red Sox. The Sox have loaded up on starting pitchers to deal and have a nice system,  but I'm not sure the Early/Tolle/Harrison/etc... are good enough to be a lead dog on a team that may try to contend. Also, Marte opens up a line up hole.  So, have fun with suggesting a 3 way where Marte ends up on the Sox, Gore and Abrams on the D-backs, and numerous prospects who aren't immediate contributors end up on the Nats. Toss in a Casas or Campbell for 1st base.

I think they have to leverage Abreu or Duran to another team to get the prospects for Marte
