Spot on.
I have a certain policy to enjoy a ball game no matter the outcome, but I can see myself having a hard time this year. Frankly, I have a hard time seeing it any other year. This is THE worst year in franchise history, bar none, when it comes to disparity between expectations/results.

Frankly I think that is what makes or breaks a year when it comes to "disappointing" or "enjoyable," what you thought you were getting going into it. Low or no expectations, no hurt. Epic expectations with collapse? That's heartbreaking...

Great, a three man bench.  I hope Fister gets his batting practice in today.

Werth said he "felt good" so MW put him back in.  They always say, it's good to have a sub .200 guy leading off: gets the team going.

Collins has the pedal to floor.  He saw Clippard was struggling so he went to Familia for a 4 out save to preserve a one run win.  That guy is putting Standard Decision to shame.  In fact, the Mets front office and coaching staff has walked their Nats counterparts since the ASB and into the trade deadline.  Urgency > Cool Indifference.

This is one of the reasons I want to beat them so badly.  They are DESPERATELY trying to win this division.    It would be so sweet to have them sitting at home for another postseason.

Could Cal Ripken replace Williams?

http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/cal-ripken-barry-larkin-manager-washington-nationals-cincinnati-reds-082615

tl;dr - there's no chatter of Williams' job being in jeopardy, but if he gets fired, Ripken is a potential replacement.

Not sure this is a good idea.    We already have one ex-player new manager who wouldn't have worked out.   Why try it again?

Is Brad Wilkerson available? If we want to just not even try to find a good manager, let's at least go with one of our own.

Basically every player quote is something I doubt has ever been said about Matt Williams.

Here's a trifecta of implicit indictments from Tim Lincecum, speaking about Bruce Bochy:

"He’s very meticulous in how he handles his bullpen, he knows really well how to handle the guys on the bench. Never tries to put anyone in a position they aren’t comfortable in."

If the Nats do change the manager, for goodness sake, please hire Dave Martinez.
