What about Fister?

in his last 7 appearances Fister has put up a 4.76 ERA, granted he's only pitched twice in the last 10 days or so I wonder if he's dealing with an injury of some sort.

He should have been gone weeks ago. He'll be here through the end of the regular season, that much is clear.
I fully expected him to be fired right after the last road trip.

With so many baseball people using advanced stats, Williams should know not to go with a righty against cespedes.   The nats need a sabermetric manager and someone who has a good feel for the game.   Anyone can make a lineup and players at the major league level do not need coaching as other sports require.  Managers are basically paid to make adjustments to win games and MW just can't do it.  Let someone else give him  another chance, but do not  bring him back next year.  I will not watch nats baseball games next year if they do.  It's not good to be this pissed at sports seemingly everyday.  My hate for rizzo, mw, and storen is through the roof.

That's the problem you either find one or the other. Bigger problem is that we found neither

There are some things that MW does well - it's his bullpen and situational management tho that is beyond repair

Maybe a stronger bench coach?

Meh - there's no way he can come back and still command a room though. They're going to have to can him. Maybe there's an MLB version of Barry Trotz out there we can bring in - that would be ok

Joe Maddon has both and I think it's fair to say Buck Showalter does too, he just won't admit how many/which stats he looks at. Does Bruce Bochy like sabermetrics or at least respect the idea of advanced statistics? Matheny, Williams, Mattingly and Scioscia seem to have a disdain like they're trying to be know-nothings to prove they're "gutty" and old fashioned or something. Terry Collins too, actually, he is one dumb sumnag and I fully, fully expect him to blow it in the playoffs, or make the wrong move and fall ass-backwards into success when somebody flails or pops up on a pitch down the middle, etc, saving Terry from looking like an idiot because he got the results against the odds.

Jose Vidro is a sabre metric nut. He had 6 straight 59+ RBI seasons.

Oh, also, we won't be getting Melvin because the Athletics extended him, not sure if anybody already said that. I didn't like him, after that trainwreck collapse last year, but eh, couldn't be worse than Williams right now right?

Roeneke, Maddon, and Black are all sabermetric guys I believe yet they are all from the coaching tree of the old school gut manager that is Mike Scioscia.  Maybe it's because by the time all 3 got their chance, sabermetrics had invaded every front office?   All I know is that MW needs to go.  He might do well somewhere else, but he is clearly done with this franchise.  Or I hope that the Lerner's are smart enough to give him the axe.   Rizzo should be shown the door too. He's done well, but he's also been too confident and didn't hit the panic button and made trades when he should have if he just looked at the standings.

Were there boos? Please tell me there were boos.

Didn't hear much in the way of boos (on the radio broadcast) but there sure was a lot of cheering for the Mets (in a ballpark that, for the second straight night, was just 2/3 subscribed).

He did do outstanding work in terms of setting the starting rotation (if only the Mets starting rotation with their ability to rest Harvey now).

That's the problem, they didn't do it soon enough and wasted a prime season in Caps-like style...

I don't think a mid-year new manager makes this team any more of a title contender than they are now

Was it really prime, though? What did we have, 2, 3 games with 8 regulars in place? MW is what he is, no question; but the DL run rampant didn't help. And not just with the Nats.
