What can the Nats do when teams continually throw at Harper? Will the league step in?
He puts asses in the seats, if I were commissioner this crap would cease.

Yeah its really ridiculous. If I'm Rizzo I call up the Commish and start tearing some crap up. It's stupid that teams, especially garbage ones like the Brewers who aren't playing for anything, can just hit Harper and hurt him without repricussion. Yeah you could say "well we could hit Braun to get retribution" but that ain't justice.

There needs to be more consequences for guys getting hit. Sick of seeing our boy getting beaned just because he's better than everyone.

FP made an interesting point today.   Pitchers don't wanna pitch in and leave it over the plate.   So, when they pitch in, it's way in.    But that doesn't explain the other two Nats yesterday or Gio, etc. in the past.

Nor the lack of retaliation. Simple solution: Throw at heads.

Only place for that is MLB:The Show.  If it happens in real life, the pitcher needs to be yanked by his own manager immediately.

I've thought for years that it should be two bases, instead of one.  That would drastically curtail the practice.

You think he was getting thrown at the other day? That just looked like an inside pitch that went to far in.

The fastball in the back... that looked intentional.

Just to twist the knife, I'd add that it's works like a balk.  Two bases for everyone on the base paths, scoring anyone on 2nd and 3rd regardless of empty bags.

Hey, slow pitch softball, if you walk a girl, it's two bases.

If you walk a dude, it's two bases. With 2 outs the girl can take first.

I think this would affect pitchers going inside in general, so I don't like it. Hitters have enough advantages.

Most of the time HBP are not intentional.

Yeah, that's what I meant.  Actually, I think that applies only if a girl is next up.

FP was going on and on about this all weekend:  if a pitcher is throwing inside, it is his responsibility to make sure he doesn't hit the batter.  If the pitcher is not good enough to throw inside without hitting the batter, he shouldn't throw inside.   I agree with FP on this point.

Not in the league I play in. Dudes always get two bases in coed leagues.

You don't now the half of it.  They use different size balls for girls.  So each time the girl comes to bat they have to go through the process of the ump exchanging balls with the pitcher, completely humiliating the girl.

they got rid of that about 3 years ago here. Speeds up the game, too. Probably added an extra inning on average.

So are you guys suggesting they throw in a smaller ball for Harper to hit to even things up a bit?

Ball would travel farther when he squares one up. Chicks would dig that.
