"Harper said he had not undergone an MRI exam.

“It’s not to that point,” he said. “If it still feels pretty terrible [Friday] or the next day, we’ll take that, but we’re just going to see how it feels.”

From the Post game recap, so I wouldn't say no MRI needed is accurate yet.

Worse yet, Scherzer didn't have an MRI today either

I don't really follow this?

"Harper said he had not undergone an MRI exam.

“It’s not to that point,” he said. “If it still feels pretty terrible [Friday] or the next day, we’ll take that, but we’re just going to see how it feels.”

Thanks madj, that makes more sense than just ruling it out entirely as it seemed to be earlier.

Part of me hopes he does leave when his contract is up. I don't want him to be stuck in this god forsaken cursed city like Ovechkin has been.

:smh: NANF

Optics sounds like Harper's BH2

There is a 95% chance the Nationals medical staff freaks this up.

Here's how amazing Harper's season has been until now: he could miss an entire month with this injury, but if he returns healthy and continues at the same pace he was hitting at before, he would still have a 10 WAR season and win the MVP.

Interesting.  Two things:

1.)Here we go with the famous nats backslide.  Last night and this morning, "no MRI needed."  Just a mild hammy pull.  Today?  Still hurting..."well, if he's still struggling we'll get an MRI"  That was backslide one.  The next will be...."yeah, we're going to put him on the 15 day dl.

2.)Did anyone hear in Harper's post game last night where he mentioned how it scared him at first because the hammy pull was lower on the leg, something like "almost at the knee?"  I dont think we're at ALL out of the woods with an acl/mcl thing here.

good god this city i soooo cursed.  sooooo %$$#$%@# cursed.

Since I have had both I don't recall the pain being at the back of the leg.

Me either, it was a pretty dramatic fall/grab/writhing in pain moment.  I've seen guys pull up when running to first and find out after the game it was a pulled hamstring, Bryce's reaction was WAY worse than that.

We've established DeezNatz doesn't know where an ACL is.  There goes my theory that he's a surgeon.

he said down near the knee.  why do you assume it was only in the back portion of the knee.  Perhaps he strained his hammy and also did other damage, oh wise surgical expert?

and i didnt just mean acl/mcl...i bascially meant anything more serious than a hammy strain.  Something related to his previous bursa sac injury, etc.

i'd type more, but I've just been called into emwergency surgery....will post more after I've saved this man's life.

Did it look like he grabbed the back of his leg though?  To me it look like his knee sort of crumpled and that's what he was grabbing?

I really don't understand why they didn't just get an MRI after last night? Why waste 2-3 days seeing how he feels? This is so ridiculous. I've braced myself for the inevitable months long DL stint with numerous setbacks.

This team is just incredibly reluctant to do MRIs.  I don't understand it.

Ultimately it's the player's decision; that is, he can veto it. Harper might just be that obstinate.

Mark Zuckerman        ✔ @ZuckermanCSN
Asked MW if confident nothing more than hamstring for Harper: "Given what's gone on this year, intricacies of which things have happened...

Mark Zuckerman        ✔ @ZuckermanCSN
...we're getting hammered about it anyway. So we're not going to go there."

I'd believe that if the Nationals didn't have a long history of mis-diagnosing and seemingly missing serious injuries.

Does the Nationals training/medical staff believe they are poor at diagnosing injuries?  We, the fans, who are watching this, think they are but if they don't they'd be no more insistent about doing more test than the minimum because they don't see a problem.

Of course he gets hurt. Of course. Why wouldn't he? I mean this is D.C. after all. We can't ever have anything nice.

How about we keep Harper and instead you can

This picture makes it definitely look like a hamstring problem.

Waiting for Boras to get the OK from NY.
