Chris Young is last line of defense minor league backup.

I'd rather have Lannan.

Think of it this way...we get Dan Haren without all the expense...

Chris Young helps the offseason charitable pick up basketball team.

You'd rather have Lannan, stuck in AAA and sulking everytime they bring him up for one game.  I wouldn't.

So, Chris Young is going to be loving it in Syracuse?

He could have left last June* but chose to stay. He knows the situation and that he can leave either at the end of camp or in June.

* the new CBA provides this option to all MLB free agents that sign minor league contracts. As well as the $100K bonus for staying until the June deadline

Lannan should be looking for a major league deal.

He did enough to re-sign there, didn't he?

Would you give him one? How many years/dollars?

In Lannan's first start in 2012 he earned a massive win. We had lost a few games in a row, the mood for the first time was getting negative, and after being blasted in the top half of a double header Lannan had a big time start for the Nats and stopped the bleeding against a hot Braves team.

If I was San Diego, yes. Although not if I was Cincinnati.

John injury wasn't a "pitching" injury, so it isn't as if he has to prove his arm is healthy. He's a back of the rotation starter plain and simple and shouldn't be looking for a NRI deal.

From Post about Young's contract:

Quote
The Nationals also announced the signing of right-hander Chris Young to a minor league deal. Young will earn a $1.5 million salary if he makes the Nationals’ active roster and can up to nearly $6 million based on innings pitched and games started, according to a person familiar with the contract.  Young can opt out of his contract if he is not on the active roster at the end of spring training.

From Post about Young's contract:

He must be the only person who likes the Nats Spring Training facility :) Because that's all he's gonna see, again.

Yep.    F.P.'s turning into a Nats' fixture.    We need to get him on here for a chat and then meet him at the Red Loft next summer some time.

I've grown to like FP a lot too. While Bob can be terribly annoying, I can't help but like him. Well, at least I can't say hateful things about him because he seems like a genuinely good man. It would make it so much easier if he was an jerk.

Now we just need to dump Bob and replace him with Dave Jaegler and Charlie Slowes. Dual broadcast

Yes, Bob is terribly annoying but clearly a good guy.  FP, on the other hand, is also terribly annoying but who knows if he's a good guy.
