OK - Away from the silliness here, can we all on WNFF agree to make efforts to support Jayson, because his mistake is just a moment in silliness and we all have to move forward ?

Well, no, sorry I'm not signing on for that. It was much more than a moment of silliness, it was putting lives at risk.

Well said Ray. I doubt that was just an isolated moment. It just happened to be the time he got caught.

I'm a firm believer in forgiving people for making mistakes. It's the first time he's a had a run-in with the law, as far as I know. Hopefully, he's learned from it. Now if he should happen to do something stupid like this again, I wouldn't be so forgiving.

We wouldn't even be talking about this if it didn't happen in Fairfax County, one of the few places in the entire country that gives you a few days in jail instead of a ticket and points on your license for speeding 90+.

It wasn't 90+, it was 100+. There really is a huge difference. I drive 80 regularly on the highway (traffic permitting) because everyone else does. 80 is a comfortable speed (for my car). I occasionally find myself pushing 90, and I slow down, but even 90 is still comfortable. I have, in my youth, driven 100-105 (on very few occasions) and it is a scary speed. It is out of control.

Control is based upon vehicle. In my '86 Toyota MR2, 100+ felt like the body panels would sheer off in the wind and the slightest change in wind would put me in a ditch. My '03 Audi RS6 feels like it's doing 70 MPH while at 150+, much like Jayson's Porsche. With the correct control of a vehicle at those speeds with no or limited vehicles on the road, the threat is much less than say someone weaving in and out of heavy traffic at 45 MPH. If a crash occurs, either could be catastrophic, but to think that speed is the only factor is naive. The punishment in this case, does not fit the crime. A hefty fine and a loss of license for a decent length of time (7 months) would make much more sense than jail time.

A GT3 RS is more than comfortable doing 100+.
