FTFY.

Thing is, Ladson has been adamantly squashing Fielder talk for weeks, so something must have changed.

The Yankees and Phillies sell out every home game.  If we transform into a playoff team will we sell out every game?

Yes.

If the Nationals are in a playoff hunt in August, we will sell out every game, or come very close. as 35k+ in a 41k stadium.

Pete Kerzel update:
Quote
Updated: MLB.com has reported, and a baseball source has confirmed for me, that the Nationals have, indeed, met with the Boras, who are hoping to sign the free agent slugger. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com has reported that, according to a source, Boras is seeking an opt-out clause that could be exercised by Fielder several years into a long-term deal.

Give him an Opt-out after 3/4 years and hope he takes it.

Not a confusing sentence at all.

Get ready for a 10 year, no-trade clause, back loaded contract and more Marky Mark talk about he, Prince, and Scott Boras having many dinners together.

Love the opt-out.  Gives Fielder high incentive to perform out of his skull in hopes of getting another shot at what he and Boras probably view as a very thin market today for his services.

Yes. Plus, by that time, we should have a 1B ready to take over the spot.

If that were true, then this deal would be a no brainer.   I suspect the owners are not convinced it's true.

It was mentioned on Twitter by Rosenthal, but what about the idea of a mutual opt-out? Could work for both sides.

Why wouldn't he?

It sounds like it is in the hands of the Lerners now.

Not if you accept that instead of "Boras", we are now to refer to him as "the Boras".

maybe front loaded, but with a bunch of years so Boras can say he got x number of years, and prince has the opt-out so he isn't stuck playing for $10 million per in year 7?

I'm thinking The Boras should have The Borgi as a pet.  Or maybe The Borgi is really Boras, only in his cute widdle poochy form.

How meaningful is a mutual opt-out?  Let's say there is a three year deal with a mutual opt-out for the fourth year.  How does that differ functionally from a straight three year deal?    Now, a mutual buyout might make sense.

It's hilarious that this angle has been given to a reporter twice in a few weeks.  Somebody is definitely leveraging (or trying to rebuild?) the Lerners reputation.

They did that to themselves years ago.

Poor choice of words.  Replace destroy with rebuild.
