Updated: MLB.com has reported, and a baseball source has confirmed for me, that the Nationals have, indeed, met with the Boras, who are hoping to sign the free agent slugger. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com has reported that, according to a source, Boras is seeking an opt-out clause that could be exercised by Fielder several years into a long-term deal.

Love the opt-out. Gives Fielder high incentive to perform out of his skull in hopes of getting another shot at what he and Boras probably view as a very thin market today for his services.

It's hilarious that this angle has been given to a reporter twice in a few weeks. Somebody is definitely leveraging (or trying to destroy?) the Lerners reputation.
