What are you talking about? You said "following the rules." Please show me this rule that says: "the strike zone will be totally precise at all times without exception." It's discretionary.
The STRIKE ZONE is that area over home plate the upper limit of which is a horizontal line at the midpoint between the top of the shoulders and the top of the uniform pants, and the lower level is a line at the hollow beneath the knee cap. The Strike Zone shall be determined from the batter's stance as the batter is prepared to swing at a pitched ball.
The problem with the Nats pitchers is they all throw junk...have to be very fine with it and when they get into a wild streak and HAVE to throw a strike, they get hammered. Who is the hardest thrower on the staff right now? Does anyone throw a cutter which seems to be the new unhittable pitch in baseball? I guess Stammen throws reasonably hard but he has to keep the ball down. None of the Nats pitchers have any room for error and a good hitting team like the Phils eat them up and spit em out.
Oh I would expect 100 more of these games this season. It's going to be brutal.

Batista reminds me of "Iodine" Tavarez from last year
Yes, please show me the guarantee of precision there. Hell, it doesn't even specify the area of home plate that determines the call. Is it the front of the plate, the back side, or does it have to be over at least 50% of it?
This team blows. What plan are we talking about? God, I just hate them. What a waste ...
Hey now don't talk bad about my boy Julian! (He had a few good moments for you guys!)
you're right, surely there is no way to tell is a ball crosses home plate at a given height.
No, it doesn't. The batter's position may change, but his strike zone would not. It's on him if he wants to move closer to the plate, or further from the plate. The strike zone is established by the height of the player as it relates to the HOME PLATE, an always stationary object, not as it relates to the batter's position.
mannerism on mound
I love that Riggs is burning through the bullpen in a 11-1 game.Nice.
I'm asking at which part of home plate does it have to be at the specified height?Okay, so it has to be from below the kneecaps to the letters. Well, where? What if the ball crosses that plane at the very backside of home plate, even though it was too high as it was over 95% of the plate?
