Am I allowed to start concentrating on the 2011 Draft yet and hope that the Nats tank this season?

The low part of the strike zone never changes for a player, but the top part can.

A player's height has nothing to do with it. A tall player can bend down and change his strike zone.

Which is my point exactly. The fact that player can bend over and it changes his strike zone is RIDICULOUS.  Each player has an established individual strike zone for his exact dimensions. If he leans over, bends, steps back, steps up, that's on him, his strike zone does not change! Nor should it!

Sure, you're still young, you can afford to do that. Some of us old farts, yeah, not so much.

So they pulled Desmond of Guzman then he promptly let's Howard get an infield single?  Can someone explain what happened.  Gametracker doesn't give out that many details.

I disagree. It's pretty uncomfortable to stand straight up and swing at chest high pitches.

The strike zone has changed over the years, what's wrong with basing it on height not a batter's stance

http://www.baseball-almanac.com/articles/strike_zone_rules_history.shtml

I think we should go back to the low high fair for historical sake

c'mon, you're just being arbitrary. A player's can change his stance a million different ways, but his individual strike zone is always the same, always. The only way it would change is if he grew or shrank.

Well you will be waiting a long time for a winner with Rizzo, Kasten, Lerner, and little Lerner at the helm running this team into the ground. Wasn't the team supposed to be showing progress by now? The plan was started in 2006. My math says that this is year 5 and the Nats suck even more now than they did before the current ownership took charge.

It only matters if we can sign the draft picks. Aaron Crow is not lost on me, and the almost disaster of Strasburg as well.

Hah.  If you're worried about winning now, you're rooting for the wrong team.

Really, this woes is me, we'll never win anything ever, our owner's suck, everyone sucks, emo douchebaggery is really, really old. You're like what? 17? When you're as old and grizzled as I am, you'll realize that you're never as good as you think or as bad as you seem. Nothing ALWAYS stays the same. Things change all the time.

But this team stinks, so I don't blame you for being irritated. Just don't expect me to jump on the pity party. It's a waste of energy for a crap team.

So are you saying that the top of Bagwell's strike zone was above his head when he was in his stance?

What? No, it's from the letters, middle of the chest, whatever to the knees. It's a standard measurement for every player.

You're misunderstanding what I'm saying. The strike zone does not start from the ground. It starts from the knees to the chest at it relates to the stationary position of the plate. It's immaterial how he stands. The Zone does not change.

So you're basically agreeing with him that the organization stinks? :D

He had a horrible start and we're down by 10. I have no idea why they pulled him

At least Nyjer is playing well. We'll probably trade him in the middle of the season for a draft pick that we won't sign.

No, I don't think the organization stinks at all. I think the team stinks. there's a vast difference.

Hah, yeah right.  Tell that to Pirates fans, and O's fans, and Royals fans.

This team could easily be very bad for a long, long time.  This isn't like the NFL or NHL.

We do need a little perspective.  The Phils are loaded with their lineup and Halladay is probably the best starting pitcher in the game.  Even the Phils have questions with their bullpen although we won't see it today.

The Nats early season schedule is brutal so another slow start is going to happen.
