do you think they want to pay him to pout and boot balls around the infield and not walk and not earn his money.

based on last year- yes

Nats lineup against Florida and Rick VandenHurk:

http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/archives/2010/03/marlins-nationals_lineup.html

JJ is supposedly going in the S/S game vs the Braves.  I think the Nats are getting VandenHurk.  The Fish lineup is so weak that Uggla is in the 3 hole, trying to extend his K streak from yesterday.

Marlins writers in Viera have this Marlins lineup:

Miller 8
Barden 6
Uggla 4
Morrison 3
Ross 9
Carroll 7
Jimenez 5
Hayes 2
VandenHurk p

EDIT:  Carroll in LF?  He may have the best OF arm in MLB.

I want to call into Jim Bowden's radio show and demand an apology. I really hope last year was just because there was no one else.

Maybe when he comes back he'll actually start playing.

Its like all that work on his feet first slide zapped his concentration on all other aspects of his game.

Wang seems to be making really good progress.  From Biff:

Quote
VIERA, Fla. -- Nationals right-hander Chien-Ming Wang had his first bullpen session of the spring Monday afternoon.

Wang, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, threw 10 pitches on flat ground and then 15 pitches on the mound. He was throwing pain-free during the session.

In fact, according to pitching coach Steve McCatty, it appeared Wang wanted to throw more pitches. McCatty said Wang's sinker was moving down in the zone.

"I was happy with what he did," McCatty said. "He felt good and the ball has that sink to it. It was very good to see. The arm slot looked good. He was free and easy with the ball."

Wang is not expected to pitch in a big league game until sometime in May.

i was surprised to see Espinosa and Marrero play today, given they aren't getting much playing  time and aren't making the big club, why not send them to the minor league camp already?

They are in minor league camp, but teams sometimes will use guys from the minor league camp as filler for split squad games.  This is the reason that a guy like Thompson, who was already optioned, pitched today.

I'm on the Thompson bandwagon, as is the Lodson. We'll be seeing him soon.

You own 15 ties?!? I thought you grew that soup catcher to eliminate the need for a tie.

15 ties?  No, I own 15 Jerry Garcia ties.  Probably have another 25 or so of the off-brand stuff.
