ASSCLOWN is just butthurt that a reporter got his hopes up.

I'd be fairly happy with this offseason if the Nats were to get Wang.  I'm still not crazy about the Pudge signing, but all else would have been smart.

Made up? It was fairly accurate. Not 100% accurate but close. Guns were drawn in the locker room.

Where is the truth in the Wang story? Yes the Nats are in the running but to say that Wang chose the Nats and that they were agreeing to a deal is completely bogus.

no, it was Made Up.

Pete Vecsey said that Gilbert and Crittenton both pulled Loaded Handguns on each other and were threatening to shoot each other in a standoff.

that's nowhere close to being "fairly accurate" in regards to what actually happened.

just because you hate Gilbert Arenas doesn't make his story any less fictional.

the only truth in Vecsey's story is that both Gilbert Arenas and a gun were involved.

there is more truth in the Wang story, than there was in Vecsey's original Arenas story.

He has 4.1 years of service time. That means the Nats can tender him a contract next offseason (assuming they sign him for 1 year). It would go to Arbitration.

Please explain to me how Pudge is so much better right now than Nieves. (ahem, cutting you off at the pass: that means RIGHT NOW - do not bring up a bunch of stats from the earlier part of his career because that's not relevant)

Knorr, a lot of the guys on the staff seem excited about working with Pudge, and as so many around here are quick to point out, our budget is fine, so what's the harm in signing the guy even if he is offensively no better than Nieves?

Because he's old and his bat could go from "equal to Wil Nieves" to "barely fit for AA."

Sure, but my point was that they brought in Pudge to do the catcher's job until Flores heals and tutor Flores.  Anything he does with the bat is just a bonus.

If I'm calling the shots (which I'm clearly not) and I had to decide between a player who's going to be a lifetime back up catcher and a hall of fame caliber vet, even though his career is in decline, I take the vet, if all other things are equal, especially if it's clear he'll probably have to assume the day-to-day duties for a while.

Bingo. You need two catcher. Josh Bard would have been equally good, but the team is juiced up about it :lol:

I'd have to contend that point, since whatever he does with the bat has some sort of effect on the team's offensive performance, and the Nats' offense may have to carry the team.

I would do precisely opposite for just the reason you mention.  Pudge has logged so many innings at catcher that he's even more prone to the decline I fear.

Seriously though, I get what you're saying, but I think that getting production out of the catcher's spot in the lineup is the least of our concerns right now.

People are saying he chose Washington but a formal announcement wont take place atleast for another 2 to 3 days due to the weather.
