Hold the freak up... how can you claim Capps is a winner when he's been on a terrible team his whole career yet it doesn't work the same way with Dunn.

You can't even figure out when you contradict yourself anymore.

Yanks are trading Gaudin. The Nats should have picked him up on waivers last year - I have no idea why they didn't. He's another warm body innings eater.

Who gets cut for Marquis?

But he quoted it to 'show' Capps was a winner... which according to SF, he clearly wouldn't be because he's never won anything.

Also, SF was talking crap about Capps when he was first brought up... hell the same with Marquis.

Why is he on the 2010 Nationals' Baseball calendar? I know that is off-topic, but his picture is one of the twelve months on the Nationals calendar. I don't get that - it's not like he is a regular starter? Is it a prediciton of the future or of things to come?

This sounds like a game show.

Also, we should sign/trade for someone tonight for good measure, just to show Capps we mean business.

I don't know whether to take it that we don't have interest in him anymore and then Marquis is our only SP sign or if we still do but decided to hop on Marquis.

not so sure he is an innings eater. He is a 4th starter type, but has spent much of his career as a reliever. He's help. A good slider - IIRC, either ESPN or BA rated him as having one of the best in baseball. he's gone over 150 IP once in his career (2007), his first full year as a starter. Hurt in 2008.

Burbles MacGuffin says that we are still interested in Orlando Hudson. If Hudson signs, Guzman will stay at shortstop, which means either they trade him or Desmond spends some time at AAA.

IF the Nats sign Hudson, it will be very difficult for Rizzo to trade Guzman without eating a good portion of his 2010 contract. I can see the Nats eating a couple million, but enough to get him dealt, I cant see happening. The good if a Hudson signing, means that Guzman at short will have a gold glove on both sides, which is a whole lot better than what the Nats have had the past few years. Also, if they sign Hudson, I hope it's for at least two years, with anything more being vested on performance.

Signing Hudson would be awesome. Having him and then Desmond when he becomes the everyday guy just makes our lineup better.

Adding Hudson to 2nd probably lowers the team ERA by .100.

Hudson is an overrated defender. According to UZR, even Ronnie Belliard was a better defender than him last year by a decent margin. There has to be a reason why a Nationals outcast like Belliard started over Hudson in the playoffs.
