Yea, like I said, he was a Yankees fan before he was drafted. No indication that he'd just bolt after his contract was up.

That's an old quote (June 2009).  Read this article carefully by Dave Sheinin (Jan. 2011).  His father addresses his long term commitment to the Nats.  That should ease your concern.

kilgore says it's no big deal and he could play, but they don't want to push him.

Flores' was a bit more serious.

From the Washington Times (via Rotoworld):

Quote
Harper has been dealing with a sore left thumb for more than two weeks now, but Nationals Director of Player Development Doug Harris said Monday that they are just giving him some rest. "It's the first time this kid has played baseball day, after day, after day in his life," said Harris. "So we're just giving him a blow."

harper is fine.

i read somewhere if it were ryan zimmerman (meaning if harper were in the bigs) he would be in today's (or that day's) line-up.

i still don't see him in hagerstown for more than another week or so, fwiw.

Just give him Tommy John surgery already, Nats.  We all know that that's where this is going.

I don't mind this at all!  In fact, one of my concerns about Harper was that he's never, EVER had to deal with struggles on a baseball field.  He'll certainly struggle at some point in his major league career, so it's good to have him deal with some struggles down there so he learns some coping methods and can adapt those to his struggles when he's a major leaguer.

Dear Nats:  Let him deal with his struggles down there, but after he comes out of it, he needs to be promoted.  New challenges and all that!
