hey fielding a AAAA roster and not spending any money on the team is a wise move for a new franchise! oh wait no it's not.

Yeah, I'm sure that hammonds and spider are the only people who will be going to fewer games.

There is no way on earth that the Nationals will have a drop in attendance from last year. How unthinkable.

so the lerners tried to make a deal for Tex and got screwed. now they are out, supposedly, in discussions with Milton Bradley who we know has a 3/30 offer on the table.

1. typically you don't offer/negotiate with two players at one time (especially if anything has been offered to Bradley).
2. Maybe Dunn is asking something ridiculous in regards to contract and/or said 'no' to negotiating with the nats.

It appears to me that the Lerners are engaging with who the baseball people are suggesting.

Don't trade any prospects yet. We don't know what we have with Milledge, Dukes and our young pitchers.

If we trade Milledge and have to play Wily Mo everday because of injuries, some of you are gonna blow a gasket.

I really doubt we'd ever have to play Wily Mo. I think between Kearns, Harris, Bernadina, and Maxwell, somebody has to be adequate in that bunch, or at least better than Wily Mo.

I think the decline in attendance will be significant. That is unless the Nationals magically start winning more than they lose.

I just find it sort of amusing you and Spider come on here for hours each day spewing plenty of hostility towards ownership for not getting every free agent they go after, threatening not to go to games, spend money, etc. (which is bullcrap, because you both know you will or spend your time Nats wise around here), and yet offer little to no viable fixes for the team other than to spend, spend, spend money that isn't even yours to spend and making ridiculous statements about how things are run when you have no direct insight on to what goes on behind such negotiations.

I guess I can't really blame you at times because the team is stuck in a rut. No one thing can be blamed for the situation this team is in. It isn't as simple blaming the Lerners, Kasten, JimBo, the Players, or Our Lord Jesus. It is a combination of things, from years of rape from the MLB, the media propagating certain myths to the decisions of the Lerners and the players just not living up to their part. To blame it all on the Lerners and continue the pointless "Lerners are Cheap Crusade" is just a waste of time and very narrow minded.

The Yanks are always happy to take on a few more bandwagon fans if spending money out the ass is your thing. Baltimore is always gagging for new fans to possibly walkout on them in the future. But if not, you just need to suck it up and stop whining.

It's a no-brainer that attendance will decline. The team lost over 100 games last year and the shine has worn off of the new stadium. Alot of people came last year just so they could say that they saw the new park. You won't get those types this season. I think attendance will level out at somewhere around 25,000 per game average and that will be what we can expect until this team puts a winner on the field or starts to show some improvement. The frontrunners will show up then. I'll still attend somewhere between 10-20 games because I love baseball....even bad baseball.

Regarding their spending - or lack of spending - I'm not just talking about the roster. Look I've been good since the season ended trying not to take shots at the ownership (for the most part), so I don't want to get into it again. I'm happy we showed effort in the Teix sweepstakes, but that doesn't mean I'm going to change my view.

And trust me, spider and I aren't the only ones unhappy with the current ownership group:

And last year was THE PERFECT time to spend ... going into a new ballpark and everything ... but no, we settled for a 102 loss season and became the joke of MLB. They just don't care.

I don't know if we'll go that low. That's put us about 5,000 per game lower than B-More. Of course, we don't have the Yankees and Red Sox coming to town on a regular basis either. We could go that low if it looks like another 100 loss season by mid June.

He would have never came here. You are living in a dream world if you think quality players like him, Tex, Manny, etc. want to play on our sorry squad.

He would've definately helped, but we still would have been last. Hunter just doesn't do anything for me.

TH averages 25 HR/100 RBI per season. He would've been a good fit with Milledge/Dukes.

We already made one relatively big move (Olsen- legit number three on almost any team, number 1 or two for us and Willingham who is a better than average major leaguer, and probably our starting 1b). The move happened at the beginning of the off season, so it seams like we haven't done anything, but to me at least this was a big move (then again my expectations are in the gutter).

Not to mention that we were willing to pay 200 mill for a guy who would fit our system. That seems like a huge amount to me to pay a guy who isn't even the best at his position. Ownership can't help it if he said no- the offer was made and they were willing to pay. The last thing I'm going to do is whine when they won't over pay guys who are suddenly saviors now that they are free agents even though they are only mediocre to good players (see Lowe, Derrek).

That's pretty much what we have to hope for at this time. Sure adding a bat or two will help but for us to go to where we want to go we need our players here to step up and perform to their potential.
