All I can tell you is that we are new to this game and feel a sense of honor in producing the truth...I know there are 1 million and one blog sites with 2 million "sources" but we would not have stuck our necks out unless we were solid with the source. Look it isnt over until Teixeira holds up that new jersey....but we felt strong enough to stick with it...look up here in Maine, Sox fans were all dead sure Tex was a Sox...I NEVER bought it. Go listen to some of our archived shows...I have never thought the Sox would pony up what Boras wanted..
Congrats, guys. Hope you guys get attention for the scoop. That unconfirmed report that Tex has wanted to sign for a week is really interesting...

my point in all this, is that the Nats are a lot closer to respectability than people assume they are.

OMG, I think I'm starting to get optimistic again. We would have been good last year if it wasnt for injuries. I might just bet on the Nationals again this year (if I can get like 30-1 odds for the NL East)

Boras doesn't want to piss us off, because not just Strasburg, but our #10 pick could be represented by him as well.
It is never good to burn bridges. Look at what happened with the Braves. They are never going to deal with Kinzer or Tellem again

If 8/184 is not enough, are we looking at 10 years, 220? Gawd!
Yeah, I have a feeling I will be unhappy with this signing.

Let's make it official before we go there.  I don't want a Furcal-esque situation on our hands when I wake up in the morning.  Sign the term papers NOW!

It's not official that they were even offering that much.  It may have been like 8/170 for all we know.  I said from the start 10 year/$200 million should do it and I stand by that estimation.

it's not time to ask yet.

I'll offer full, profuse apologies to the CMSB when it happens, but until it does, I remain a skeptic.

I'm still not counting the chickens.

The Post is up....

http://www.centralmainesportsblog.com/2008/12/not-so-fast-red-sox-nation.html

in a nutshell our source confirmed the Nats have been the highest bid from the get go...thus 99% sure...Boras reshopped the Sox/Angels and O's to no avail...Unconfirmed rumor had Teixeira wanting to sign last week and Boras wanted a "winner" Boston/Angels etc....

THANK YOU!!!  I WILL TOUT YOUR BLOG ENDLESSLY EVERAFTER!

Let me rephrase my question. IF we were to get Tex, what would the team do next?

Try to trade Nick Johnson and Austin Kearns
I can even see us trading Belliard if the offer is good enough

pitching.

take a long, hard look at someone like Brad Penny, for example.  scour the non-tenders for relief pitchers.

whatever you gotta do. IF we get Tex, the next focus has to be pitching.

I think if TRex comes here and does well/wins, he's got a real shot at being an HOFer. I think no matter what he does anywhere else, it would be very tough for him

Ok that is some stupid crap. Come play next to a warehouse - we matter more. Bat .400, hit 60 HR's, no one cares.

It has to be us and the Nats.

The only question left, IMO, is how stupid did Washington get?

If they went Dr. Evil then we may have a problem.
