Definitely. Teixeira going to either us or the O's would have been a stunner. Generally big time FAs like Tex don't go to last place teams.
Yeah, same goes for Bore-ass clients.

freak the Yankees, man.

I talk to this Yankees fan and he tells me they need a CF.

What do these giddy little pricks go out and do?  Go out and expand their already exasperatingly monstrous payroll by inking two starting pitchers and a first baseman to gigantic contracts.

The only way I can see the Nats pulling this off is if they are offering some ludicrous deal. Could they be throwing some deal like a 10/270 deal out there?

Honestly, I don't think Tex does that much for Washington. Like many have said, a lot of the people in DC are transient and don't give a hoot about the Nats and probably could care less who Mark Teixeira is.

I'm truly worried about the Angels in all this.

I am just having fun imaging how the meeting in Texas went down between Boras / Tex and the Boston FO...

Boston FO: Here is our offer. Come play for a winner, Tex.

Boras: We have higher offers.

Boston FO: Well, we are the Red Sox. Come on Tex, whadda say?

Tex: Remember the '98 draft?

Boston FO: Uh, yes... we do.

Tex: So do I. Go **** yourselves.

So THAT's why they're trying to trade Melky Cabrera... ;)

Need a salary cap. freakn Yankees know they have to sign all of these players to compete with the Sox and Rays.

It's okay; I honestly expect that Sabathia peaked last year and will never do that again, and that Burnett will get injured and plunge into mediocrity.

A commenter on MLBTR anonymously posted that he heard on a radio show in the Boston area that the Yankees offered a ridiculous amount of money for Teixeira and forced the Red Sox to withdraw.

Sorry I snapped at you. I just get fired up when people defend Jim Bowden. I live in a DC suburb, and root for the Nationals as well (never over the O's though) and I continue to watch Jim Bowden flush the Nats down the toilet with his stupidity. Every year they have less depth in the system and less talent overall. He's a drunk, a blowhard, and an idiot to boot.

Moron.  :bang:

If the Yankees get Tex for some insane amount fans need to organize a boycott of the game to get a slary cap in place.  MLB would be akin to WWE if that happens, what  joke....for the integrity of the game I sincerely hope the NYY dont get him.

"What the Angels did was spectacular, they gave him an offer that blew everyone away, and it shows how badly they want this guy," Hunter said. "I'm so happy they did that. I can sleep better at night. We can't let Tex go. He's very special on this team.

freakkkkkk! I hate all of these rumors. All sound so believable but almost all have been WRONG. I don't know what to believe. So many conflicting reports. I just wish this crap would end right now. I can't take it anymore.

Hunter is a liar. He was dying to come to the Nats, remember?

like I said, I just quote what I see, regardless of whether I believe it or not.

I'm not a professional reporter. :)  and I figure it's nice to see what everyone else is saying about situations that we here at WNFF are following so intently.

Out of all the teams involved, the Angels are of least concern to me.

I normally don't go to sleep until 2-3 so I'll probably be up for another hour or so. I might go play video games though. Hopefully when I wake up around 11 tomorrow morning we will have some real news.
