I don't think it would be the Angels.

It's the Birds isn't it?  :?
The Angels GM said he was outbid earlier too. He said they are preparing alternative options.

OH HELL!!! WTF WTF WTF! THE SOX HAVE BEEN OUTBID!!!! OUT OF THE RUNNING!

you are awfully excited for someone who has been preaching "there's no chance in hell, he's not worth that much money, everything is bullcrap, be realistic" and such.

I think we need to curb our enthusiasm a bit. it is very, very likely that he'll choose to play for his childhood team over us.  we're setting ourselves up for a potential heartbreak if we start celebrating like OH is.

either way, I'm pleased with the Lerner's effort in this.

but this isn't over yet.

if dc and balmore are even on the money -- he'll go to balmore I would suspect -- it would be a bummer -- but it would be a 100 times better than if he sold out to the evil empire of the sox -- gives the rest of us who want to get better and attract FAs some hope for the future ...

Tex said he was impressed with Ted Lerner and the hope for the future
Everyone keeps saying we are the top bidders.

Unless everyone is totally out of the loop on the O's, it looks like all signs point towards us.

Dude we have no chance. I know that. At least we are in the running though and outlasted the Red Sox. There is only one single reason he would choose us and that is if we gave him a contract far larger than anyone else.

Still we outlasted the Red Sox!

I'd rather see the guy go to the oriloles than the Sox or Angels.  I'd tip my hat to him if he cared that much about his hometwon team to give them a shot, and as much as i HATE Angelos for helping keep a team out of DC as long as possible I still respect the O's tradition and history.

The sox and Yankees are just absolute, utter evil.  Nothing is worse than them.

Sportsfan is just trying soooooo hard to keep his hopes from getting up because he's giddy as hell, deep down.  You just saw evidence of that with his freak-out about the Red Sox.

I think we definitely have a chance now that it's down to us and the B.O.'s.

You're just trying not to be a jinx at this point.  We clearly do have a chance at this point.

I'm worried Angelos will do anything to spite us. He is still pissed at us for getting the Expos
This could get ugly.

Lol well Red Sox say theyre out,  Angels have said they cant match the highest offer, which isnt the Red Sox.

It has to be us if some reports say it may be up to or near maybe even larger than 200.

I have a huge feeling its going to be us.

Why are the O's fan so optimistic? Everyone said we had the high bid and they were unwilling to raise the bid.
Do they know something we don't?

Since when are the O's that superior to us?

I have that feeling too.

Hopefully the Lernastens have even greater vitriol about the MASN deal and Angeloser trying to block the move to D.C. and doing everything to undermine the Nats.
