7 teams per conference out of 16 is where the NFL is now, so 7 per league out of 15 isn't off the wall in terms of playoff pools. The pick your opponent is an interesting twist. Do you go with the underachieving choking dog team with stars (2015 Nats), or do you go with the overachieving guys who somehow complement each other and scraped into the playoff (2019 Nats)?
The NFL has a much shorter season. So many teams clinching months before the playoffs is not going to be ideal
