Nice pitch by Bergmann to end that inning.

Potomac-Wilmington (4th inning):  Lyons pops the ball for Potomac out #1.  Lefave knocks a couple deep foul balls before finally flying out to the left fielder.  It seems that Edward Teaford has developed some type of blister on his finger, the Wilmington bullpen is showing activity.  Teaford has dominated us so far, except for the Burgess hit.  Brown stikes out on a controversial call, Brown has some words for the home plate ump as he walks away from Teaford's sixth strikeout.  It would be nice Teaford if unable to continue.

Detwiler starts out the inning with a 2-2 strikeout, using his curveball.  4 Ks for Detwiler, with three being the last trio of batters.  Johnson grounds the ball to Daniel Lyons, who charges and makes the play for out #2.  Detwiler is starting to settle into a rhythm now.  Howell ends the inning by grounding out to Dan Lyons as well.  After the shaky start, Detwiler has found his control and is inducing the groundball instead of letting the batters nail it to the outfield.

how many walks?  That could be indicative of trouble to come...

Detwiler's always had control issues this season...lets see if he can keep it at 3.

Those came in the first two innings, he has really settled down and is not falling behind in any counts.  The last two innings have been money by Detwiler.  Conversely, the Wilmington pitcher is slowly breaking down.

I think he can be a very solid player. We just need to let him play and get into a groove.

5 runners stranded after 2 innings. SHOCKER! Nottttttttttttttttttttttttt

Nationals Fan: You lucky, lucky bastard.
Brian: What?
Nationals Fan: (with great bitterness) Proper little gaoler's pet, aren't we?
BRIAN (ruffled) What do you mean?
Nationals Fan: You must have slipped him a few shekels, eh?
BRIAN Slipped the umpire a few shekels!?  You saw us stand five runners in two innings!
Nationals Fan: Ohh!  What wouldn't I give to strand five runners in two innings!  I sometimes hang awake at nights dreaming of having five runners in two innings.
BRIAN Well, it's not exactly friendly, is it?  They stranded RISP ...
Nationals Fan:  RISP!  Oooh. (his eyes go quite dreamy) My idea of heaven is to be allowed to have RISP ... just for a few innings.  They must think the sun shines out of your arse, sonny!
BRIAN Listen!  They didn't score with the bases loaded.
Nationals Fan: Oh yeah?  The only load the bases against AAA callups...
BRIAN
Oh shut up.

Stupid ass Bergmannn. Has the pitcher down 0-2 and then throws him a hanging breaking ball so he could catch up to it.

Ridiculous. So ridiculous.

:bball: He's so freaking hittable it's almost incredible. Warm up the pen, I can't stand Bergmann anymore.

His ERA is nearing 5.00. Bullcrap. He should be taken out of the rotation.

Potomac-Wilmington (5th Inning):  Potomac has one hit, which also happens to be their only run, Michael Burgess.  The DH, Matt Rogelstad, hits into a 4-3 ground out.  King, who struck out his first time up, hits a pair of foul balls and gets to a full count, paving the way for a walk on the next pitch by Teaford.  The first pitch to Burgess is a breaking ball that bounces off the catcher's mask, allowing King to move to second with one out.  The Wilmington pitching coach is back out on the mound looking at Teaford.  Another wild pitch, which Burgess swings on, moves King to third.  Burgess fails to capitalize and puts forth one of his notorious strikeouts.  Solano leaves King stranded with a fly ball to the outfield.

Detwiler with a no-hitter through four.  Detwiler seems to be relying on his curveball when he has the 0-2 count.  It has mostly successful, but not when he tried it on Jarrod Dyson.  Fortunately, Detwiler was still able to get Dyson to ground out (5 ground outs vs 4 fly outs for Detwiler).  Derek Robinson hits a ball up the middle of the field; Dan Lyons stops the ball but is not able to prevent the no-hitter from being broken on the infield single.  Paolo Orlando, who has struggled against Detwiler tonight, gets behind Detwiler with a 0-2 count.  Orlando then hits the next pitch to Ross Detwiler, who finishes off the inning with a 1-4-3 double play.

Bergmann sucks so much ass. Even when he gets an out it's still on a poor pitch. Why throw McCann a pitch that he could easily drive into the air that will cost you at least 2 more runs? You should be going for the groundball or K in that situation.
