Longtime BPG member who occasionally lurked here, but didn't post much.   Coming over because I noticed your gameday threads get 200+ posts, while ours are down to 20, five of which actually have something to do with the game.

What does BPG stand for?

Hey Guys, I am a Nats fan that is local to the area. I just hop on the green line and go to the games, it's a nice relationship. I usually check the board every so often so I figured I should start contributing. I feel that the LAC, Lerner's are clueless, rather than cheap.  ;)

I think they're a nice mixture of both

Good morning, hleeo3.  Don't be shy, contribute away!  And if you must vent, the game threads are the ideal forum for gutteral rants and mindless expressions of rage.  Not that those are prohibited elsewhere.....

More than a few coming here from BPG, eh?  Not shocked.  While I still like that site, it has gone way down hill recently.  Oh well.  This is the new joint for me - now if I could just get masn...

man, I just looked at BPG again for the first time in like a year and a half.

we're sitting on WNFF talking about Strasburg, next year's pitching rotation, Riggleman and the Streaky 2009 nats.....

and they are still obsessing over which media writers supported Virginia's baseball effort instead of DC's back in 2004. good lord, man. does anyone here even think about that crap anymore?

and now it's like the same 5-7 people in every thread, and only those same 5-7 people.

how the mighty have fallen. BPG was the place to be, back in the day.

The funny thing is that even here there are posters who still think everything I write is colored by that.  :lmao:

Actually, I supported Virginia's effort because their effort had gone on longer than DC's.  Back in the Day, Bill Collins group even had people putting deposits into a bank account to show a possible season ticket holder's good faith in supporting a team here.  In 2004, when it came right down to it, I supported ANY effort that would bring a team here.

I was at Camden Yards the night it was announced that the Expos were coming here.  I had worn this T-shirt, which many have seen in other posts at the time and got both positive and negative reactions from those there.

I remember making a deposit on 2 seats for Chip Akridge's expansion effort back in '91 but I don't recall Collins doing the same.

I thought it was Collins.  :?  Around that time.  I have a BRING BASEBALL BACK IN '87 button somewhere.  I know I went to NATSFESTS organized by the Washington Baseball Society and went to several events when Collins was actively pushing for it.  Signed petitions, etc.

JMad and a few others here can attest to my bona fides in support of NoVa baseball.

Thank god the team isn't in NoVA - imagine the traffic trying to get there before gametime on a weekday

I thought Budco pretty much ruled out the franchise relocating to NoVA.

Actually it was VA politics not so much Selig that prevented VA from getting the team.  At the last minute State and local legislature didn't want to put up the funding at the last minute.

I think if the NATS came to Virginia, the Subway out to Reston and Dulles would have been funded and built sooner!  Although not ready by the first season, would have at least been out as far as Reston by the time the team left RFK and got to the stadium in VA.

All this is neither here nor there anymore though.  I'm happy that the NATS are here in DC!  Go NATS!

Bags (DaveBinMd on the MLB board) was active in one of the groups for quite a while.

I supported Arlington over DC over Dulles.  As soon as Arlington said no thanks, there was only one good option.

I didn't care either way. I just wanted baseball closer to home than Baltimore. i really didn't think it mattered whether the team was in DC proper or in Arlington. it was going to be a regional team no matter what.

I wish they were closer to me.  I don't think traffic would be that bad either.  The toll road isn't as expensive as the metro and it's usually not bumper to bumper.
