Lanna is the best pitcher on this staff, with Redding right behind him.  Lannan will be the ace of the staff for years to come and hopefully soon, guys like Jordon Zimmerman, Corey Van Allen, and Colin Balestar join him (even though Balestar got shelled yesterday).  Greatest thing about it is, Lannan is still learning to pitch up here in the majors.

lol it doesnt matter cuz the Hornets will beat the Spurs
Who's loling now!? :D

By the way, Lannan is officially a rookie. But Volquez looks to be locking up the rookie pitcher praise-a-thon.

Soto, Votto, and Volquez should be the top 3 right now. I'm pretty sure Soto will get it, but it is a long season...

While last night wasn't "lights out", three earned over five isn't horrible. Unfortunately he got the loss (now 4-5) and his ERA went up to 3.57.

The line:
IP.....H....R...ER...BB...SO...HR
5.0...5....3....3.....0.....4.....1

Bump - because I know it annoys Spidey ... oh wait ... it's me that's annoyed when threads are bumped ... :frode

Good bounce back performance by Lannan tonight -- after the last rough start -- really only gave up 1 run in 6 innings --  (the first run wasn't on him)  - and it's too bad the Nats weren't leading (no surprise) or I think he could have gone at least one more inning -- got out of a couple of jams earlly and looked really good in the other innings -- no walks -- good stuff -- all and all a very solid night for him ...

Finally you're coming around.

It was a very good bounce back for Lannan but how was the first run not on him, he gave up a double, a single and another double to lead off the inning?

Totally sucks that Lannan is 4-7 after how he has been pitching the whole season. Funny that the Nats thought that both him and Jesus Flores were not ready for the bigs.

Error(s)?

No. The errors came in the second and didn't lead to any runs. They led off the game with 3 hits that resulted in one run. The other run was a blast by Doumit.

Looking at the box score, they charged 2 runs to Lannan and 1 to Hanrahan.

Since I am new, I havent gotten to weight in on "the best pitcher on our staff."  He is the master of disaster, just when you think he has put himself in a position in which runs will flood in, he maintains composure, finds a small crack of light and exposes it to escape the inning.  He has easily became my favorite player (along with the more cliche pick of Zimmerman) and I will have to admit it mostly stems from his amazing performance against Bonds last year while he was chasing the record.  He has had some tough losses this year, but some of them were deserved.  I could see him as a Maddux-like pitcher, going on to have a long career built off of his genius and the ice cold blood that calmly pumps through his veins.  If he can do what he is now as a rookie (with the team that we have), imagine what he will be like when we have the bats and experience to back him.  Yes I am on the Lannan Train and it does not seem that I will be getting off anytime soon.

Which last rough start? Lannan has given up 3 runs or fewer in 5 straight starts. In his last start he threw 6 innings while only allowing 2 runs against STL.

I think she meant his last start against the Pirates.

I guess I'm remembering it wrong -- wasn't that the inning where Flores bobbled a tapper in front of him for an easy out that led to a run?

Oh, ok. Agreed. It looked like it was going to be a repeat of his last game against the Pirates in the first but he stranded runners on second and third with no outs and pretty much cruised from there.

No. That was a later inning and it never led to a run. Lannan got a DP to get out of the inning where Flores bobbled the ball and Belliard blew the routine grounder.

No that was the second inning in which Belliard also had an error. But those led to an inning ending DP and no runs were yielded. You just misremembered.
