If someone would pay us like he was true quality stretch drive pick up to round out a play off rotation. and offer us a position player who should be a quality starting player, then I'd trade him.  But it would have to be an Alcides Escobar or a consensus top 50 prospect.

BA's midseason top 50 came out - Escobar is #14.

I know his last outing wasn't so great, but as I've just joined the forum...

Holy cow what a freaking gem. 4 hits, complete game, first career shut out. Both career CGs are vs. the Mets and they both came this year.

Fabulous effort.  Started a little big shaky, but settled in to complete dominance.  Way to go John!

I'll trade Pujols, Carpenter and a PTBNL for him.

John Lannan has a Facebook. Should I friend him? He's got 735 friends, so it's not like he's picky.

He's moved up to 38th among all MLB starters in VORP, which would imply he's a solid #2 starter.

I wonder where he would rank if you took out every starter's two worst starts.

W's ?

I thought you didn't put much stock in W/L for pitchers?  He's obviously not going to rank very well in that category anyway with this team behind him :?

That coupled with the other stats shows he's an average pitcher. Helluva performance last night but it was against a 4A team. Kinda like seeing one scrub after another turn in a dominating performance against us night after night and then turning around and watching them get shelled by other teams in the league.

If you use W/L to gauge a pitcher, then you should stop watching baseball.
