Burgess hit another bomb today. He has 10 Jacks on the season in only 142 ABs.  :worship:

The down-side is that he is striking out 34% of the time and has a .225 BA.  He's got incredible power though. He's only 19 too.

With that kind of power, I'll accept a .255 average for this season. That can be corrected w/ more experience. They shouldn't mess w/ him too much, though, because we need him to keep hitting with that kind of power.

Garrett Guzman has finally been demoted to AA after just struggling mightily all season in Columbus. Jorge Padilla was promoted to AAA to replace him.

Decent start by Clip tonight but I have no idea why he was taken out of the game so early. He had only thrown 87 pitches.

4 IP 1 H 0 R 0 ER 4 BB 9 K for Detwiler tonight. Good outing but he's got to find a way to get quicker outs so he can pitch longer.

Man, Willems is having a crappy start to the season. He got rocked today: 4 IP 6 H 4 R 4 ER 4 BB 1 SO 1 HR

His numbers on the season in Low-A ball: (3-3, 5.18 ERA) 41.2 IP 42 H 26 R 24 ER 6 HR 13 BB 26 SO

Him and Marrero are both struggling mightily this season but their both only 19.

Colton Willems sucks right now.

I can't believe he was drafted ahead of Joba Chamberlain.

Potomac Nats clobber Wilmington today 10-3.  Adrian Alaniz gets the win (6-0) with 3 runs in 5.1 IP keeping his ERA to a respectable 2.85.  Not terribly sharp, and I suspect he'll stay put for at least one more start.  But with a record like his, a move to Harrisburg next week wouldn't be too surprising.

Newly promoted closer Martin Beno (from Hagerstown) looked good for his first high A appearance (1 IP 1 BB 1 SO). Keep any eye on him.  HR's by Bynum, Diaz and Leonard Davis.  A four run 1st inning was too much offense for Wilmington to over come.  Baez 3 for 4 / Rogelstad 2 for 5 / Marrero (HBP) 0 for 3 / Lowrance 2 for 5 with 3 RBI's.

O'Connor pitches 6 innings tonight while allowing only 1 unearned run to lower his AAA ERA to 2.06.   6 IP 3 H 1 R 0 ER 1 BB 4 SO

We'll probably (hopefully!) never see him here again, but he can still up his trade value. :D

It makes no sense.

Here's a puzzling stat: O'Connor walked 11 batters in his 9 innings of work up here in D.C. In AAA this season O'Connor has only walked 5 batters in 35 innings.

I guess that's a Career Minor Leaguer for you.

That's kind of how I feel about Langerhans, but w/ the current state of our outfield, he might actually be an improvement.  :?

The perks in Columbus must be fantastic considering how many of our players excel at that level, but blow it up here.

Must be.  I remember D'Angelo Jimenez hitting something absurd like .360 in Columbus last season and when we called him up he went like 0 for his first 20 or something.

I have always like O'Connor, in that he's a local guy who succeeded with limited tools, but I was as aghast at his performance at Nats Park as anyone (I was there, and I've never heard a Nat booed as much as he was).  In 2006, he was reasonably effective until his injury.  He was totally lights out in Columbus until being called up, at which point he pitched like a deer in the headlights.  There has to be some mental issue he's dealing with, fear of the bigs or something.  What a shame, it will be a long time before he gets another chance, maybe never with the Nats.

Burgess is really heating up. He went 3/4 tonight with a Triple, 3 RBIs, and a run.  He's now hitting .252 with 11 HR and 28 RBIs in 163 ABs.
