I have always like O'Connor, in that he's a local guy who succeeded with limited tools, but I was as aghast at his performance at Nats Park as anyone (I was there, and I've never heard a Nat booed as much as he was).

Not even Will Cordero?

Funny, I'm sure Wil was booed, but I don't remember it.  Remember the Nats were winning at that time.  I felt bad for O'Connor, he'd worked hard to get back to form, finally got promoted on merit from Columbus, finally got a start, probably had friends and family watching, and throws the worst game of his career.  I hope he gets another chance, but not here, not now.

I remember it clearly. Personally I'm not a booer (at least not of my own team) but I respect other people's right to boo whoever they want, especially when they are not producing. Wil Cordero and, at the time, Cristian Guzman were so bad that I considered that maybe it was OK to boo them because they clearly deserved it. On one of those nights I even saw people standing behind the Nats dugout, as Wil Cordero walked back after a strikeout, with their middle fingers sticking out. I thought it was a horrible display so I decided not to boo my own players after all. Thank God I'm totally over that lapse now so I probably would've booed O'Connor the night you're talking about.

Some of that O'Connor booing was probably not specifically intended for him, but for the organization for not having put a major league pitcher out there.  There's a lot of frustration among the fan base regarding this year's team, and I think the booing threshhold is easily crossed.

Sounds like he'll be used to our run support level when we call him up. That was an incredible outing!

Yes it was. He had a no-hitter through 5 innings. I am pissed that they took him off after 6 innings. He was dominating and his pitch count was only at 88. The guy they brought in to pitch the 7th (Brownlie) gave up 3 runs and took the loss.

If you're following Hagerstown lately, you can't help but notice the job that King is doing this year.  He has 9 hits in his last 3 games including a game winning RBI in the 10th, and a 2 out single to tie a game in the bottom the the 9th, which the Suns later won.  He has his average up arund .350, his OB% close to .400, and a sluuging % of over .550.  His defense looks solid, and he continues to make plays at at a "new" position, third base, look easy.  I just watched him get another hit, and RBI, tonight in a loss to Kannapolis.  He played SS tonight, and will tell you that this kid can play anywhere in the infield, and also provide a potent bat.  Great prospect!

I agree, we should keep an eye on King because he is hungry and he wants to improve. He needs alot of playing time though and thats why they sent Steven Souza to Vermont.

Not to mention our middle infield prospects are weak to say the least.

And Garrett Mock has been even better:

30 IP, 28 H, 21 K, 3 BB , 2.40 ERA

Craig Stammen with an amazing performance for Potomac today: 8 IP 6 H 2 R 2 ER 0 BB 10 K (Win)

His ERA is now down to 2.03. I think he deserves a promotion.

We should switch Colome and O'Connor in the pen. And if O'Connor keeps it up coming from the bull-pen then if anyone is struggling give O'Connor the starts.

Alaniz improves to 7-0 for Potomac after winning tonight.  He deserves a promotion. I'd call him up to AA and promote Estrada or VanAllen to AAA to replace Shell in the rotation.

Marrero went 3/6 with a HR and 2 RBIs in the game. He now has 8 HR, 24 RBIs and a .247 BA.

He's got a 6-2 record now with a 2.14 ERA.

O'Connor has found his niche (as if we didn't already know that :?).

Can we say AAAA type of player? :)
