*gasp*  How dare you criticize Olie??!!??  If it weren't for him we wouldn't be in the game!!  He's been a Cap for a long time and an asset to the community....argh...grumble grumble...

I know what you mean.  Olie's done a lot, but he's getting way up there in years.  Of course, the fans defend him as much as Redskins fans defend Gibbs.  When the Caps win and he's in goal, he gets all the credit.  When they lose, it's never his fault.  I know he's a really popular member of the team, but come on, even Boudreau called him out recently.

Its really hard to judge goalies.  We need some of that crazy analysis they use for baseball defense, range factors and stuff.  Or at least, good saves/bad goals ratio.  I dont know how Olie would fare compared to others.  He did make a great save on a two on one. But he does let in his share of softies

I'm gonna call a hat trick for Ovechkin.

Damn, I was off by two :?. Has he had a hat trick yet in his career?

Caps have twice as many shots as Montreal but lose by 3... Feels like the beginning of the season. Tons of shots but nothing to show for it.  Kolzig sucked badly again too.  Boudreau should make BJ the starter.

Anyone know who Boudreau's goalie was on his last team? Has to be an upgrade, right?

I dont know how we lost tonight.  That Semin penalty in the first period while we were on the PP was killer.  The caps were dominating and that gave MTL their only chance to succeed and we come out of the first period down 1-0 while outshooting them 14-6.

Kozlon played an inspired third period. Maybe he is sick of playing on the 3rd or 4th line. Really need to beat the isles on saturday

The Caps have absolutely zero confidence in OT/SO situations.  Green fell down and did not get back up and then Kolzig let one right through the 5 hole.   This team just sucks.

Nice win tonight.  First win for Boudreau as Head Coach (not Interim Head Coach).

They've done pretty well with him at the helm.  If he manages to coach them to a playoff spot, fantastic.  Course, that may also mean McPhee saves his job and he'll get a contract extension.

Good win indeed. It looked bleak for a while but they came up big down the stretch.

ABOUT 40 GAMES TO GO. MY HUNCH IS THEY WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFF SINCE THEY ARE WITHIN SHOUTING DISTANCE OF THE TEAMS AHEAD OF THEM IN THEIR DIVISION AND I BELIEVE BOUDREAU WILL KEEP THEIR ATTENTION.

I was at tonight's game against the Bolts as well, my first game actually since the Strike. Nothing like a little in person action on home ice to get that hockey blood boiling again.  Had a great time and great seats.

Caps came out aggressive and hard in the first period and though they didn't draw first blood, they kept at them and tied it up in the final minutes of the period.

You could easily see in the second period they were either tired or lacked confidence.  Some good shots but nothing went in and there was some sloppy play.  Again, Bolts drew blood but then the Caps tied it up in the final minutes of the period.

The stuff going on in the third period meant it was anyone's game.  However, as the period went on you could tell the Caps wanted it just a little more.  Bolts seemed to have a lot more speed and skill on the ice but they just weren't getting the breaks they wanted and the Caps showed a lot of heart.  There would of been riots if that final goal was called back.

Caps really need to work on the power play.  Three power plays tonight and nothing to show for them.  They need to start taking advantage.  They were hungry during the first power play but in all others they floundered.

Good win tonight though.  Took the pride and wind out of the Bolt's sails.

I just wish that Vinnie would go out west for a season or two where we wouldn't ever see him...LeCavalier has been the Caps' undoing for years now.  Caps won, but Vinnie still notched two.

Pretty good crowd for Boxing Day (15,700 announced, and that was probably pretty on the mark for once).

It doesn't get any more frustrating than tonight's choke job against the heated rival, Penguins. The Caps had them dead to rights when Morrisonn who has been invisible all season took a penalty.  Once it got into OT I knew they were done.  This team folds the tent whenever a game goes to OT/SO as evident by their 2-5 record in OT/SO.  I would have been happy getting one point prior to the start of the game but to blow the win with a few minutes left in the game is heartbreaking.

BTW, MILAN JURCINA IS A F***ING JOKE!!

Jurcina is no joke.  He is a deflecting post, perhaps, but no joke...
