Not with this garbage defense. It's nice to see that the offense is finally clicking but at the very least the defense needs to be competent or average. From my understanding Taylor is not going to be back any time soon so the defense is going to have to find a way to start playing better if they want to win.

Gibbs took forever to do the right thing and bench his boy Mark Brunell (twice!). In the process he junked 2 complete seasons (2004 and 2006). He has taken a long time to abandon his outdated approach and allow Jason Campbell and the offense to play without handcuffs and as a result may have junked yet another season so I'm not going to credit him for finally letting them play. Did anyone else notice how confused he seemed on the sidelines yesterday when asked by the refs if he wanted to burn that timeout after a Dallas player got injured stopping the clock anyway? He needed his assistants to tell him what he should do. The decision was a no brainer! The clock had been stopped long enough for them to set the ball so that the cowboys could only burn limited clock anyway. Also he chose to attempt a 50 yard FG over going for the conversion of 4th down. He did it out of fright but those kicks are far from being high percentage. They had a better chance of converting that 4th down and 1 than making the 50 yard FG. Had they not converted the cowboys would've gotten the ball at around the 33. Instead they got the ball at the 40 because of the missed FG. That decision went a long way to changing the flow of the game. With a short field the cowboys drove and scored their first TD.

The one positive I'm hoping for is that the NASCAR season is finally over so maybe he can turn his attention entirely on the NFL season! Maybe they will go on a run and make the playoffs in spite of him.

All true. It was nice to see the "restrictor plate" removed yesterday, but he does look very confused in what should be simple situations.

When you have a 285 pound running back that could probably crush that Fox football player robot, a Cowboys defense with round heels, one yard for a first down, you're on the road with nothing to lose, and you choose to go for three, your junk is suspect.

On another note, Gregg Williams isn't the one to replace Gibbs either. He too is stubborn to a fault about adjusting his schemes to fit his players and in game situations. For example, the defense that has the ML covering the deep middle of the field has been getting scorched for years. Does anyone remember the game where Lemar Marshall looked just like Fletcher did yesterday trying to cover Porter from the Raiders on a deep post? That led to a loss against a bad team also. This has been going on for a couple of years and he refuses to junk that coverage for something more effective. Teams know the Redskins like to use that coverage and take advantage of it. Dallas added that play to TO to their game plan specifically to exploit that fault.

I'd be cool w/ us getting Cowher or Garrett. I know it sucks to start over, but I think we'll have to next season. Could be a good thing, though.

Can you guys believe all of those jerks on Extremeskins who are crucifying Campbell?? He played outstanding, quite possibly his best game as a Pro. He came up huge on several 3rd and Longs and even a crucial 4th down play late in the game. The fumble was not his fault at all. Any other QB in the NFL would have fumbled in that exact same situation. Samuels just completely missed the block. The interception sucked but the game would have been a blowout without Jason's great play all game. Just look at all of the sorry ass QBs in the league. We are very lucky to have Jason. There are only a few QBs I would take over Jason.. Brady, Peyton, and a few others.

I've been over there off and on all day and it seems like quite a positive bunch for a Monday after a loss...especially for them.

Campbell did play great and he's starting to show what he might be able to do for us in the future, but that pass at the end was terrible. I don't think he should have tucked and run, I think his accuracy should have been better. It's tough to swallow those types of throws as a fan. But yes, he did play well. He's just not clutch yet.

The ones that are whining about Campbell have been doing so for a while and are mostly Brunell fans that can't stand their boy isn't under center anymore. I think it's a joke that they are trashing JC yet supported MB and even suggested he should be in the Pro Bowl last season

As for the interception, he's young. Randle El made the right move to stretch his route. With more experience JC reads the same thing and pump fakes the CB out of the play and then converts it into a TD pass to Randle El. The experience will pay off though.

I don't know that you have to start over. They have Al Saunders who can become head coach. He'll just have to hire a good DC to run the defense. But will Gibbs and Snyder go for that? I doubt it. If they did and Saunders' offense exploded it would expose Gibbs and I don't think they would be willing to risk that embarrassment. Gregg Williams would be a mistake as HC in my estimation. There is still a chance Gibbs will come back next season and will just keep his hands off the table, if he's really smart he would do that. As for Garrett, junk that idea. Cowher's positive is that he recognizes good assistants and gives them room to operate with the talent available. He is also a disciple of Marty Schottenheimer. Who knows if he would even consider working for Snyder.

Did you guys read the article that said Randy Thomas participated in non contact drills with the second team today? If everything goes as expected, and they win the next couple of games, Thomas could be back for the Giants game or maybe even sooner for the Bears game. However, if they were to drop a game between now and then I would just put him on IR and let him wait until next season to return.

So what does everyone think is going to happen today?? It seems like the majority of the public thinks that the Bucs are going to win as the line keeps getting higher. The Skins are now 3.5 point underdogs (had been 3 all week).

In the NFL every game is a must win but if the Redskins want any serious chance to make the playoffs they absolutely have to win this game. The Bucs are decent but they are by no means a good team. Their defense has been good but they are definitely past their prime. The Bucs have no running game to speak of and Garcia is pretty limited in what he can do. What fears me most is Galloway going off.

Knowing the Redskins I'm sure the game will go down to the wire but I would sure kill for a nice and easy 10-14+ point win.

That running back Graham isn't bad at all. Just because he isn't popular doesn't mean he isn't good. Same w/ Garcia. One of the most underrated qualities is the ability to control a game; that's Garcia's best asset. He's playing better than Campbell this season and both he and Graham have been helping their team WIN.

Should be a good game, though. If Campbell can play like he did last week and our pass defense doesn't give up big plays, we should be fine.

That causes me great concern.

I don't see this game as an easy win or a sure loss. It all depends on the way they approach it and whether they choose to attack them or be passive (I wish Gibbs would grow a set). By what he said on the Joe Gibbs show it sounds as if he will be passive. The Redskins have never beaten Jeff Garcia (which is pathetic in and of itself). I like to see them come out early with a commitment to an air attack. And I'd love to see them generate pressure with the front 4 but who am I kidding

I think Gibbs should pull a "Manny" and bench those who don't play hard! I'd woulda benched Moss after that 1st fumbled. He didn't clutch that ball like you're supposed to do. They're playing "lazy" ball!

sigh.. They just had to make it as heartbreaking as possible. Just when you think they will drive down the field for the winning TD Jason chokes again. JC played excellent all 2nd half but there is absolutely no defending that last pass... This team is so ****ing frustrating.. When you fumble the ball 4 times in one game you will lose every time. Props to the defense though for playing a good game.

The difference on a regular basis is that we don't have true playmakers. Just look at the plays the Bucs' Brooks and CB's made when it counted.
