ESPN’s plan wasn’t enough games to prevent churn. From the end of basketball to the start of college football, what are they even going to show?
WNBA games

Yankees will now allow players to wear beards, but only well-groomed ones. I haven't checked Facebook yet this morning but I assume its full of Mattingly sideburn jokes.

Giancarlo Stanton heading back to NY for medical testing. He's currently dealing with tennis elbow in both of his elbows.

Salary Cap battle for 2027 CBA is on.

Nats have a $70MM active roster payroll...the Doyers have one player making that.  What a pathetic organization this is...

He should stop playing tennis then. Or at least stop switching hands so at least one elbow is ok.

He’s getting a full pardon too.  Didn’t know they did that for dead people.
posthumous pardons are not unusual

Umpire Pat Hoberg fired after a MLB investigation found that he allowed a friend to use his online gambling account to place bets, including on baseball. He also deleted messages to try and cover up the activity.

He called a perfect game in the 2022 WS (all strikes & balls correct)

Ah...he called a game perfectly. Puzzled me for a minute...

The Nats don’t have it at their park but other teams have been using the ball and strike appeal system.  Seems to go smooth. Maybe that will come officially in 2026?

Passan:
Quote
BREAKING: Outfielder Lawrence Butler and the A’s are in agreement on a seven-year, $65.5 million contract extension with one club option, sources tell ESPN. Butler, 24, broke out as a rookie last year and is seen as a foundational player for the A’s moving forward.

He’s scheduled to hit arbitration after 2026 per spotrac, so if my math is correct they got 3 extra years for him.
