They’ve been in the playoffs three years in a row. If your definition of success is only a championship then almost nothing works.

Win or go home...being the first loser just makes you the biggest loser...no participation trophy's...being a good loser just means you're good at being a loser...

Trying to think of some more cliches'...

Teams should be forbidden to use outside competitive advantages the same as using steroids.  While we're at it, we need to go back to using a dead ball...

...and get off my lawn...

I hope you feel better.  Whoever you are.  Now where are my keys?

That's the opposite of "play the contract," but they want him to tighten up his OF defense as he recovers from shoulder surgery. I guess Devers is locked in to DH, with Bregman at 3rd and likely Kristan Campbell or Marcelo Mayer at 2nd. They sent down Vaughn Grissom, too.

Interesting article - suggests why Victor R. has improved since leaving the Nats.

The Angels are putting pitcher Ryan Johnson on the 26-man roster. Drafted last year in the 2nd round, he never appeared in a minor league game.

Garrett Crochet. Mike Leake before him.

Skenes could have easily done it.

It's the destination of last resort for guys who think they deserve big money but with whom the teams with actual big money disagree.  Well, that and Colorado, but the latter only applies if you're at least 6'2" and look like a male model.

was Leake the same draft as Strasburg or Harper? I think I remember Leake popping off about being better or something like that. As for Crochet, he gets a little * because he was a 2020 draft choice. IDK if he was in their roster extras camp that teams had to help with COVID positive fill ins.

Consults wiki - was called up in 9/20, 1st player since 2014 Brandon Finnegan to debut in his draft year. doesn't say anything about the covid camp, but signed in June and call up in September, so I would think he would have pitched some.

As for Leake, it was 2010, so that was Harper's year.

Colorado is a weird one. They have some talent. I liked Brendan Rogers who is no longer there, their CF Doyle had a legit case for the GG over Young due to his arm and is a better offensive player (always a consideration in the GG even if it shouldn't be), and Ezequiel Tovar is terrific.

Supposedly the debt is not stadium construction related. I wonder how much of it has to do with the loss of their RSN deal

they mention both problems with TV revenues and declining attendance as two factors.

It’s a nice stadium and right downtown.  Weird they don’t have a retractable roof.

they've been making runs at the playoffs, too. I guess maybe they're jaded with the playoff fails.

Skenes was somewhat human yesterday. 2ER in 5.1IP agains the Marlins (who won).

He’s a horse. If I was Pittsburgh I’d trade him to the Yankees for Giancarlo and a bijillion in crypto.

Quite the contrast with Ruiz who it sounds like went through the same thing as Mookie losing 20+ pounds from being sick.

I've seen this movie before. The Yankees are going to accidentally leave these bats in New York before a big roadtrip to Boston and they will discover that the power to hit home runs came from within, not from a special bat.
