How weird is it seeing “Soto” in the box score today? I guess they played Elian as a favor to Juan?
Yes, Elian.
Not to be mean to a young kid, but Elian Soto probably isn't going to see a major league game. That makes me think yesterday was a courtesy to Juan Soto in a sort of, "We're good, you good?" moment.
I read something that Juan Soto has come to the Nationals instructional camp to watch Elian practice. I'm fine with it. Juan Soto was the cleanup hitter for a World Series champion team and is going to go down as an all-time player. The Mets experience would have to go really, really poorly or weird for him to wear a Curly

hat in Cooperstown, still I think it only benefits is some time in the 2030's or 2040's when Juan Soto is playing his last game in Washington, D.C. we're in a place where he can get a standing ovation at Nationals Park and eventually come back as a former player for a first pitch and Ring of Honor unveiling.
I have some complicated thoughts on Soto's comments claiming he wanted to be a National for life, and I'm putting them aside. The past is the past. I'm glad he was a Nat and I'd like there to be a good, not frosty relationship, with one of the most consequential players in franchise history.
