IMHO, No.

He's going to play everyday in Rochester and be either a trade chip, a replacement for Young if Young falters, or an injury replacement.
No.

After some bad seasons, they will want some sustained success, especially with 3 starters already in the OF.
Bobby Barrels has been hurt so often that the Nats will need to see him play steady for a couple months in Rochester before trusting him in the OF. Then no reason to trade anyone, except Call. With the DH, there are plenty of AB's for four good outfielders.

A September 2025 callup seems likely then.... or a flip at the Deadline.

Looks like Herz is heading to Rochester. Another poor performance.
he was done in by some poor defense, but the first was a little ugly.

Rutledge looks like a long reliever, maybe. He has fastball and the stuff, but seems to take a few batters to get his control. That fits a starter, but might be a worry in a reliever. Of course, with the "modern" practice that a relief pitcher should start a "clean inning" etc, he could manage some, but he does not seem like the guy to stop a rally.

He has basically picked up where he ended last season. Lots of wild stuff.

the battle for the 5th spot among Parker, Herz, and Ogasawara is shaping  up as last man standing rather than a race to the top

Today's Nats @ mets is on MASN at 1:10PM.

Great way to kill a beautiful afternoon inside watching Irvin vs. Clay Holmes. Regular infield, backup OF and C, with Wood getting PAs at DH. Second straight game without Bell. He's a vet, so I guess he could opt to just hit in West Palm rather than drive up to Port St. Lucie for 4 ABs. Knizner not Adams.

For the Mets,we get to see a former Nat, too. Jakson Reetz, not Juan Soto. Also, before anyone asks, it was Pedro Cerrano, not Serrano.

Nats

1. Abrams SS
2. Wood DH
3. Lowe, N 1B
4. DeJong 3B
5. García Jr., L 2B
6. Call LF
7. Pinckney CF
8. Lile RF
9. Knizner C

Mets
1. Lindor SS
2. Vientos 3B
3. Alonso 1B
4. McNeil 2B
5. Taylor, T CF
6. Canario LF
7. De Los Santos, L DH
8. Reetz C
9. Serrano III RF

My impression is Alex Call is not going to play himself out of a job. It might get taken away by roster management, but it won't be because he plays poorly.

Just going to post the link here, but there's a post about position battles over at TalkNats by one of the contributors, Sao Magnifico.
https://www.talknats.com/2025/03/08/nats-opening-day-roster-battles/

I do wonder what it would take for Rosario to play his way off the roster. I don't think Nunez plays his way on because he needs reps, but he's playing well and is no Michael Jackson in the field (wearing a glove on his left hand for no apparent reason).

I like Call so far. Keeping him up gets him out of the way of guys we may want  to get playing time in Rochester, figuring Hassell and Garrett are two regulars there.

I lean towards Yepez making it. Handedness complements Wood and Lowe. Pro hitter, could take some ABs from Bell, too.

MASN is about five minutes behind Gameday, may be a daylight savings time thing? Anyone else seeing the same?

Eli Serrano for the Mets is a local kid, from Fairfax, played at Battlefield High School in Haymarket.

extra outs kill. it's meant to be 3 outs an inning. 4th outs just make for more work.

Irvin is a 4 at best. It's too bad we don't have ownership worth a spit

OPS leaders (minimum 15 ABs this spring):
- Wood: 1.244
- Garcia: 1.167
- Call: 1.056
- BBIII: 1.055 (Leads team in ABs so far)
- Nuñez: 1.026
- Chaparro: .965
- Crews: .959
- House: .894
- Ruiz: .889

Lowe is having an awful spring: .467 with a .125 BA.
