Sonny Gray to the cardinals. Maeda to Detroit. Do something Rizzo!

This is certainly an off-season where the ownership committee can show their actual priorities. However, anyone remember this?

The feeling that they might be putting his name out there and then they could say oh well we tried definitely comes to mind.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the general consensus is that this is not a year to overpay or rush into anything but to let the market come to them as it were, equating to very little being done and not being chalked up to another year of rebuilding.

Detroit is not a contender. I guess they can flip Maeda this year or next. Too bad the Nats won’t spend to do that.

the thing is, there's an awful lot of pitching available in the FA market. You'd think there'd be someone who is a fit.  I mean, even a Brandon Woodruff would be a somebody who would be OK for not pitching this year but would be the top dog they'd need 2025 forward.

Surprised LA signed him again. Nice bounce back year but the two prior years in Chicago were just brutal offensively.  I’d rather have someone who could bash.

It’s tough when the current owners don’t want to be around when the moves might pay off.  I’m sure they are willing to spend $2.5 million.

.803 OPS in 510 ABs at AA, .851 in 21 ABs at AAA, he'll be 20 in March so he's way ahead of his peers.

He's playing in the Venezuela winter league and has posted a .984 OPS in 66 ABs. He has struck out as many times as he has walked.

He wasn't bad for sure, just not elite. Prospects bust so often I'd feel pretty wary of offering someone a contract like that with such little experience unless they were putting up Holliday numbers. I wasn't aware of the Venezuela Winter League numbers, those are certainly much more promising.

Scotty Jetpacks could be an interesting cheap signing.  Good utility fill in for Triple A.
