Cortes was a Rule 5 pick from the Yankees by the O's, who ended up returning him to NY. Then traded to Seattle for Intl Bonus Pool $$, only to later be released.

Back to the Yanks and the rest is history. Be nice if we had a story or two like that!

Three day rest. Cortes is gonna be a twice through the order guy. Maybe.

Happens I read the NYC media in 2001, and the papers were paying much more attention to something still smoldering downtown. People had stopped posting pictures of their children, wives, husbands, lovers who had not come home the evening of September 11.

New Yorkers were hoping for the Yankees all the way. We were hoping and cheering. It was something to hold tightly. And, no, we were not terrorized.

Hope the Yankees win. To stop the whining about the playoff format.

My Yankee fan friend told me if they lose no one will watch the rest of the playoffs. Told him I don’t care as long as I can watch. He is now off of suicide watch. At least until Boone goes to the bullpen.

First, I am pretty sure both Lindor and that kid could have caught up to that slowly-rolling van. Second, why would I want to hire someone with that poor of a work ethic (the kid, not Lindor)?

Don’t think I have ever seen a game in which batters took 5 called their strikes over two innings. As good as Darvish is pitching he has 67 pitches to 47 for Wheeler. SD batter other than Soto swinging at everything.

Yea but has been about a month now since he has returned. I’m sure he could have gone at least 8. He threw I believe 26 pitches in the first and then the batters just started swinging at everything. Made no sense.

Amazingly I believe the Phillies were about .500 this year with Wheeler or Nola on the mound. 4-1 so far in the playoffs.

I saw something on line where his fastball velocity dropped 3MPH in his last inning.
