The tricky thing for the Wiz is whether they offer max contract money to either of these guys.  They can pay more than other teams if they do.  If these guys are just mercenaries, then the Wiz could do it if it makes sense.  If you told me Porzingis would be healthy for the next 5 years, then it is a no brainer, but if you told me that, I'd suspect you were either a fraudster or at least not clairvoyant.

I think they need to trade both. I think Kuzma is gone. KP isn't worth a max, but I doubt he stays for less than the max.

I think that is the right play too.  Try to pull off a deal like Pierce and Garnett to Brooklyn.  You put both in a package and it immediately changes the balance among the contenders.  Kuzma's money and likely opt out / expiring contract makes him incredibly valuable in trade.

Porzingis is going not going to get $36 million in free agency.  According to this article he may opt out now since he has been healthy this year. But that is one year healthy. No one is going to risk that much money on a guy who is always hurt. He might opt to try and get a deal beyond that one year at a lower salary.

They could trade them to Dallas for Dinwiddie and Bertans.

Only if they throw in Luka.

"Two NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype believe Porzingis could opt out of his $36 million player option and enter free agency with the potential to secure a new long-term contract from Washington or another team along the lines of three years, $90 million or four years, $120 million given his current health and play this season."

Yea. I just posted that.  It was in the other article. Just makes no sense to me to give a long term contract at that price to a guy who is always hurt and shooting 33% on his threes.

It would be a terrible move for the Wizards, but some team could view him as the 3rd or 4th option that puts them over the top.

Ted will do a four year deal.  And then he will get hurt.  And they will get a top draft pick in a weak draft year.

That or they'll get a great pick in a great draft, only they will owe it because they traded it for a role player to make a run at the 9th seed

Back uo to #6 in Tankathon.  The top four will be hard to catch.  TRADE KUZMA NOW.  For picks and veterans who have no interest in playing.  Sit Beal rest of the year.  Need to protect that wise investment.

Kuzma could be a difference maker among the top teams.

Apparently the Wizards are trying to resign Kuzma

Wizards gonna Wizard. I can’t imagine Ted being willing to go into the tax for this core, but stranger things have happened

When you have a 35 win team, you owe it to the fans to keep them together

It's funny, but they really should be a 41 win team when Porzingis and Kuzma are healthy.  They even have some nice complementary guys.
